The Met celebrates the new year with a new production of Bizet's Carmen by acclaimed English director Carrie Cracknell, opening on Sunday, December 31, at 6:30PM. In her highly anticipated Met debut, Cracknell reinvigorates the classic story of deadly passion with a staging that moves the action to modern day and explores themes that could not be more relevant today: gendered violence, abusive labor structures, and the desire to break through societal boundaries.

What began as a 1970s rock opera concept album became a global stage phenomenon that captured seven Tony Award nominations and countless awards overseas in its 40-plus years. Jesus Christ Superstar, the beloved rock opera that explores the story and internal struggles of the last seven days of the greatest idol in history - Jesus - is the 2016-17 Broadway Series finale, now through May 28, 2017 at the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Tony, Oscar and Golden Globe award-winning lyricist Tim Rice is coming to Auburn, New York, this summer for the North American premiere of his new musical based on the novel by James Jones, 'From Here to Eternity' as part of Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival's 2016 season. Rice is best known for writing the lyrics to THE LION KING, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, ALADDIN, EVITA and more. Rice will be in Auburn for rehearsals. The new musical comedy DISENCHANTED! will make its New York premiere in a limited 9-week engagement at Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th St. at 9th Avenue) beginning previews on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Opening night is set for Thursday, December 4, 2014. With book, music and lyrics by Dennis T. Giacino, DISENCHANTED! is directed by Fiely A. Matias and features musical staging by Matt West (Lestat).
