Cameron Mackintosh's latest production of Boublil & Schönberg's masterpiece, LES MISERABLES, the first show of the 2013-2014 Mirvish Subscription Season, just opened at Princess of Wales Theatre. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you a look at opening night, featuring the cast members on the show's lasting legacy, as well as fans' initial reactions!

Ramin Karimloo (a Richmond Hill native) stars as Jean Valjean, a role for which he received much acclaim in the London production. Karimloo also portrayed the title role in The Phantom of the Opera and created the same role in the world premiere production of Love Never Dies. Karimloo played Enjolras in the 25th Anniversary concert of LES MISERABLES at London's O2 and the Phantom in the 25th Anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera at Royal Albert Hall (both of these performances were recorded for commercial release.)

From the U.K., acclaimed West End actor Earl Carpenter plays Javert, a role he has played in productions around the world. He has also played the title role in The Phantom of the Opera on the West End and in the UK Tour of Cameron Mackintosh's all new production.

Hailing from Quebec, Genevieve Leclerc stars as Fantine, a role she most recently played in the North American tour of LES MISERABLES. Fresh from starring in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, Winnipeg'sSamantha Hill stars as Cosette. Canadian Idol Season 3 winner, Juno nominee and Broadway/Stratford star of Jesus Christ Superstar, Melissa O'Neil stars as Eponine. From the United States, Perry Sherman stars as Marius. Sherman recently toured North America in tours of the Broadway shows Next To Normal and Spring Awakening. Toronto's Cliff Saunders, plays Thénardier, and Lisa Horner stars as Madame Thénardier. Rounding out the cast is Mark Uhre as Enjolras.

Based on Victor Hugo's classic novel, LES MISERABLES is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of LES MISERABLES includes the classic songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Stars," "Bring Him Home," "Do You Hear the People Sing?," "One Day More," "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "Master of the House" and many more.
