Florida Grand Opera (FGO) is proud to join opera organizations nationwide to celebrate NATIONAL OPERA WEEK (October 26 - November 4), coordinated by OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, with support of the National Endowment for the Arts. As previously announced, the complete 2012 Williamstown Theatre Festival season closes this weekend, August 19, 2012. This season included Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, a Preview Production of the new musical Far From Heaven, and a new translation of Ivan Turgenev's A Month in the Country on the Main Stage, with Lucy Boyle's The Blue Deep, Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Bernard Pomerance's The Elephant Man, and Katori Hall's WHADDABLOODCLOT!!! on the Nikos Stage. The season also included a special workshop production of David Byrne's Here Lies Love, which played at nearby MASS MoCA. Shakespeare's Globe in partnership with Arts Alliance Media will release three of its 2011 theatre productions to cinemas in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and the UK. The Globe on Screen season will launch globally from September 26 and will include All's Well That Ends Well, with screenings to commence in the US from October 11, Much Ado About Nothing, from October 23, and Doctor Faustus, from November 8. Thanks to the vision and determination of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival's pioneering artists, the adventure that began in 1953 with two productions in a tent is now North America's premier repertory theatre. In a season celebrating 60 years of theatrical achievement, the Festival presents 14 productions in five venues, featuring Christopher Plummer and one of the finest acting companies in the world.
