As previously announced, the Tony Award Winning electrifying musical, Next to Normal, is currently playing at the Tony Award Winning Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. This production stars Broadway actors Catherine Porter (Next to Normal, Diana u/s), Bob Gaynor (Leap of Faith, Catch Me If You Can, Aida) as Dan, and Cary Teder (Memphis, The Times They Are A-Changin') as Gabe.

Continuing a season of bold and Dynamic Productions, the Hangar Theatre presents the Central New York premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to Normal by Tony winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey. Today in 2009, Next to Normal opened at the Booth Theatre, where it ran for 733 performances. Next to Normal is a rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt. Its story concerns a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness has on her family. The musical also addresses such issues as grieving a loss, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life. It was nominated for eleven 2009 Tony Awards and won three, Best Original Score, Best Orchestration and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Alice Ripley. It also won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, becoming just the eighth musical in history to receive the honor.

Next to Normal also features Asa Somers (Dan), Curt Hansen(Gabe), Emma Hunton (Natalie), Jeremy Kushnier (Dr. Madden/Dr. Fine) and Preston Sadleir (Henry).

In light of the recent attention on suicide amongst gay youth driven by bullies, Broadway's Kyle Dean Massey (NEXT TO NORMAL) has teamed up with the Trevor Project for the 'It Gets Better' campaign, encouraging gay or questioning youth to hold their heads high and seek help. The best of Broadway is being presented free on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 Lite fm Presents Broadway in Bryant Park 2010' - a lunchtime series which began on Thursday, July 8th at 12:30pm on the Bryant Park Stage. Sponsored by Bank of America, and JCPenney 33rd & 6th, and hosted by Lite fm's on-air personalities, the tenth annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances runs through August 12th.
