Mountain Play presents BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and 50th Anniversary Music Festival

 The Mountain Play Association, the San Francisco Bay Area's most magical outdoor theater experience, will present the timeless classic Disney's Beauty and the Beast directed by Jay Manley for their 104th season. Based on the French fairy tale of the same name by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST tells the story of a monstrous prince and a young woman who fall in love. Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will take place every Sunday from May 21 to June 18, 2017. (more...)

It is directed by Everett Quinton, who co-starred in the 1986 premiere and was the Artistic Director of The Ridiculous from 1987-1997. J.R.R. Tolkien's Great Grandson to Bring New Play TEREZIN Off-Broadway

The Steinberg Theater Group announced today that TEREZIN, written and directed by Nicholas Tolkien, the great grandson of novelist J.R.R. Tolkien (The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings trilogy), will make its world premiere at New York's Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 W. 42nd Street, 4th Floor) for a strictly limited engagement beginning Tuesday, June 13 through Sunday, July 2, 2017. Irish Repertory Theatre Announces Extension of the Cell's CRACKSKULL ROW

Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director and Ciaran O'Reilly, Producing Director) announced today an extension of the cell's (Nancy Manocherian, Founding Artistic Director and Kira Simring, Artistic Director) acclaimed production of CRACKSKULL ROW, by Honor Molloy. Directed by Kira Simring (Hard Times: An American Musical), CRACKSKULL ROW began previews on February 3, 2017 and officially opened February 10 at Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) in the W. Grusomhetens Teater--Norwegian for 'The Theater of Cruelty' (a nod to Antonin Artaud)--is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. This independent, Oslo-based theater troupe will make its North American debut at La MaMa this weekend, March 2 to 5, with 'The Mountain Bird' (Fjeldfuglen) by Henrik Ibsen, its celebrated staging of a romantic 1859 opera libretto by the great giant of Norwegian theater.
