THE SPIRITUALIST, THE FOOTBALL PROJECT & More Set for Arkansas New Play Festival, Beg. 5/18

TheatreSquared today announced the lineup for the 2012 Arkansas New Play Festival, the theatre's fourth annual celebration of new works for the stage. The festival will feature staged reading performances of four professional plays, a showcase of ten-minute plays by Arkansas high school students, and Northwest Arkansas's sixth annual 24-Hour Play-Off. In partnership with the Arkansas Repertory Theatre, T2's lineup of new works will also be presented at Oxford American Magazine's new venue in Little Rock (1300 Main Street, May 17-18). The lineup of events in Northwest Arkansas will take place at Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios (505 W. Spring St., Fayetteville). Each new play reading will be followed by a conversation with the playwright, director and cast. (more...)

'Shekinah,' a new dark comedy by Charles Case, directed by Peter S. Case, peels open the world of post-WWI spiritualist con artists. 'Shekinah,' a new dark comedy by Charles Case, revolves around the tragic, humorous and desperate lives of early twentieth century spiritualists. People who lost loved-ones to WWI or a child to polio made especially easy prey for these practitioners of mystic bunkum, who would abuse the desperate and those whose desperation made them blind. La MaMa E.T.C. will present the play in its First Floor Theater March 5 to 22, directed by Peter S. Case. (more...)

TheatreSquared's HAMLET Begins Performances 4/10

On April 10, TheatreSquared will launch its first mainstage Shakespeare production with the playwright's signature drama, Hamlet, starring Grant Goodman. The production is helmed by director Sean Patrick Reilly and features a professional cast including T2 associate artistic director Amy Herzberg. As Hamlet begins, the king has been poisoned by his own brother, who now claims the throne and queen. Visited by his father's ghost, Prince Hamlet learns of his uncle's treachery - and vows revenge. TheatreSquared's original production is on stage from April 10 through May 4, 2014, at Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios in Fayetteville (505 W. Spring Street). TheatreSquared (T2) Artistic Director Robert Ford and Managing Director Martin Miller today announced TheatreSquared Season 8, the 2013/14 lineup of professional theatre at Northwest Arkansas's nationally acclaimed regional theatre. The five-play season includes the World Premiere of The Spiritualist by Robert Ford; 4,000 Miles, a 2012 Pulitzer Prize finalist by Amy Herzog; a new stage adaptation of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol; David Lindsay-Abaire's acclaimed new drama Good People; and Hamlet-TheatreSquared's first subscription Shakespeare production.
