The critically-acclaimed and Drama Desk nominated Off-Broadway company 'dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit,' will present the family drama Natural Affection by William Inge and the comedy Beyond Therapy by Christopher Durang, Off-Broadway at The Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Theatre Row. Broadway and film star Bobby Cannavale attended last night's preview performance of THE SILVER CORD, which is scheduled to open officially next Tuesday, June 11th at Off-Broadway's Theatre at St. Clement's. Bobby brought along a couple of his fellow actors from Broadway's THE BIG KNIFE, Lee Aaron Rosen and Mark Zeisler. This marked a reunion with SILVER CORD star Dale Carman, who served in the wardrobe department for THE BIG KNIFE through the end of its limited engagement last Sunday. In 'Voices of Swords' by Kari Floren, the late thirties son of a woman facing heart surgery hires a forty-something personal organizer to minister to his lonely yet indomitable mother. The organizer is already struggling unsuccessfully to reunite her own family. As she is sorely tested by this job, her growing toward the light is an object lesson to Baby Boomers, whose struggles to care for dependent parents are a preoccupation of our age. The comedic drama will be presented August 15 to September 7 by Right Down Broadway Productions at Walkerspace, 46 Walker Street. The Washington Stage Guild announces its 28th Season of our distinctive repertory, an array of eloquent plays of idea and argument, passion and wit - smart theatre for a smart town. The Washington Stage Guild's 2013-2014 season will focus on the fundamental basis of all art - the imagination. We will present four plays that examine the need to see beyond the mundane in order to create, to survive, to develop, to live. The Season of Dreams will travel from Vincent van Gogh's studio to Bernard Berenson's villa, and from the apartment of two fragile lives to as far as thought can reach. On Thurs., November 7, the award-winning, non-profit, Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company presents its annual fundraising gala at Aleathea's Restaurant at The Inn of Cape May, 7 Ocean St. The evening begins at 5:30p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.
