BWW Blog: Joscelyne Tamburri - The Countdown To Naden
by Guest Blogger: Joscelyne Tamburri - Mar 16, 2017

With less than 7 days left until opening of "All That Jazz," our big concert with the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, the excitement within the school is practically palpable. We now have had our very first full run through of the show with most of our costumes, and though there are obviously still some rough edges (like any show would have with their first full run), everyone finally got to see the bigger picture as a company, and after seeing everything we have accomplished over these past few weeks, we should all be so proud of ourselves. I know I am sure proud of it and everyone who's been pouring every bit of their time and energy to make it become this incredible show. The high level of performance that is starting to Shimmer out from inside each of us is breath-taking to see. Everyone is starting to shine from excitement, I can see the little glimmers sparking behind their eyes, and I'm looking forward to seeing those sparks really begin to ignite day by day as we reach our peak at Naden. Kritzerland at Sterling's Upstairs at The Federal to Present SUPER KIDS THURSDAY
by BWW News Desk - Jan 14, 2017

It's the 74th Kritzerland show and the annual all young performers show - one of the yearly favorites to do. Those who've been to the shows know that one of the things that makes them unique (until everyone else started doing it) is the use of young performers in shows. Kritzerland likes to nurture and be supportive of tomorrow's future musical theater performers, in fact, they feel it is their duty to do so. So, this is the performers' night to shine. But if you think you're going to hear a bunch of kid songs, you won't be. The night is a challenge to the young folks and there will be no pandering to their age - they are given wonderful musical theatre material from the classics to the new, featuring songs from shows they may one day get to do - so, you'll be hearing amazing songs from such classics as Funny Girl, The Music Man, Bells Are Ringing, A Little Night Music, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, as well as less well known musicals like Minnie's Boys, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Song and Dance, Baby, right up to the Broadway smash, Waitress. Being a Kritzerland show, there will also be a few surprises. So join this incredible cast of young folks and catch these young people before they're on Broadway. Kritzerland is produced and hosted by Bruce Kimmel and co-produced by Doug Haverty.  (more...)

BWW Review: Everyman Delivers a Rich Production of GREAT EXPECTATIONS
by Cybele Pomeroy - Feb 14, 2017

Director Tazewell Thompson, handling a tale that is heavy on narrative, guides the pliable ensemble to a performance that is dynamic, touching, amusing, lively and filled with gothic foreshadowing. Every sequence unfolds a new delight, from slapstick action to nuanced characterization to the most hilarious rendition of Hamlet it has ever been my privilege to witness. Script, direction, casting, performance and tech are each remarkable renditions of their kind. The beautiful language is retained, but made perfectly clear by action and diction. Additionally, it's heartily funny. (more...)
