Virginia Rep Announces the Opening of AIRLINE HIGHWAY

Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of the Tony-nominated play Airline Highway, by playwright Lisa D'Amour on Friday, January 27 on the Arenstein Stage at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street.  The play runs through February 12 with preview performances on Wednesday and Thursday, January 25 and 26.  Set in post-Katrina New Orleans and echoing the spontaneity and rich texture of jazz,  this gritty comedy celebrates the colorful, fractured characters that define the city's spirit. D'Amour, a fifth-generation New Orleans native, was a Pulitzer finalist for her work on Detroit.  She was commissioned to write Airline Highway in 2014 for Steppenwolf Theatre Company. The show made its Broadway debut in 2015 and earned four Tony Nominations. (more...)

WaterTower Theatre today announced details for the third annual WOMEN IN THEATRE panel discussion.  The event is presented under the auspices of Women of WaterTower Theatre (WOW!) and it is chaired by Jennifer Martinez.  This is the third panel in the series, having already explored the unique perspective of prominent female directors and actors, 2017 will feature The Designers, and it will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm (with a post-lecture reception in the lobby with the artists). The event will be held in the Canterbury Family Main Stage at the Addison Theatre Centre.  The lecture will be moderated by Dallas arts journalist Lauren Smart, and features Leann Burns, Clare Floyd DeVries, Sylvia Fuhrken Marrs, and Frida Espinosa-Muller. Milwaukee Repertory Theater Announces 2017/18 Season

Milwaukee Repertory Theater Artistic Director Mark Clements and Managing Director Chad Bauman are pleased to announce the 2017/18 Season with 13 productions in four venues spanning September 2017 - May 2018.  With the start of the 2017/18 Season both Artistic Director Mark Clements and Managing Director Chad Bauman will renew their contracts with Milwaukee Rep for an additional four and six years respectively.  Artistic Director Mark Clements began his tenure at Milwaukee Rep in 2010 by introducing a musical into the Quadracci Powerhouse season, creating the New Play Development program, and adapting and directing the world premiere production of A Christmas Carol this past December.   With this contract renewal through 2021 he will continue his commitment to presenting world class works on all three stages.    Managing Director Chad Bauman came to The Rep in 2013 and will continue through 2023 per his contract renewal.  In his time here he has implemented a fruitful strategic business model that supports the theater's artistic vision with a focus on quality, inclusion, citizenship, innovation, and stability.
