BWW Recap: The End Is Where We Start From on THE GOOD WIFE Finale
by Jacqueline Bublitz - May 9, 2016

We're going to be talking about this one for a long time to come. Right? That ending. That slap. That lonely walk and that promise of another beginning, right at the end. Or an end right at the beginning, set out for us seven years ago, when Alicia Florrick was shocked into being, and here we are now, seven  years later, shocked at what she's become. (more...)

BWW Blog: Lilly Erb - A Kiss Is Just A Kiss
by Guest Blogger: Lily Erb - May 4, 2016

Ah, stage kissing. It makes me nervous just thinking about it. Kissing is hard enough, but rehearsed kissing? On a stage? In front of an audience? The mere thought of it sounds downright uncomfortable. Throw in the added ingredient of high school, and you've got yourself a mess. High school is full enough of hormones and drama, and stage kissing just adds another unnecessary dosage. (more...)

BWW Review: Reimagined LES MISERABLES Asian/International Tour
by BWW Staff - Mar 20, 2016

LES MISERABLES stirred a musical maelstrom in Manila last Wednesday (March 16), and is poised to win audinces over via a memorable theatrical experience. At the heart of its seamless and dynamic storytelling beats a conscience that rouses, provokes, mangles, and transforms souls: a singular man's search for acceptance and meaning in a fractured and unforgiving 19th century France. This Cameron Mackintosh new production of Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil's legendary and popular musical takes center stage again, this time against the canvases of Victor Hugo's lesser known paintings--never before seen in the original London's West End and Broadway productions--providing a perfect complement to the production's memorable music and breath-taking sets of that iconic turning-barricade-flying-helicopter-falling-chandelier stature Mackintosh productions are known for. Is there any staple of children's literature more existentially tragic than Peter Pan? Beneath the tale of the eternal boy who flies with faeries and battles with pirates lies a story about the bittersweet inevitability of growing old, and of a child destined to be forever left behind by a world that moves on without him. This underlying sadness is a key part of the fascination J.M. Barrie's work holds over the generations, and one which holds true in Rick Elice's play Peter and the Starcatcher. (more...)
