NJPAC will celebrate Governor Brendan T. Byrne's 90th birthday on Tuesday, April 1 at 5:30pm with a Roast and toast of the former Governor by his predecessors in the New Jersey governor's office, celebrity comedians and other New Jersey politicians. Held in NJPAC's intimate Chase Room and benefiting the Arts Center's education initiatives, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will act as Roastmaster and lead Tom Kean, James Florio, Donald DiFrancesco, Jim McGreevey, and Richard Codey, as well as Assemblyman Jon Bramnick in saluting New Jersey's 47th Governor. Joining the politicians onstage to roast Governor Byrne will be acclaimed 'Saturday Night Live' alumnus Joe Piscopo, comedian and former talk show host Joy Behar, Vice President of New York Friars Club, Stewie Stone, and New Jersey judge turned comedian Vince August. Liberty Hall Museum will debut its new ongoing exhibit, Bon Voyage! 200 Years of Luxury Travel, when public tours resume Tuesday, April 1. 'We are excited to once again open the museum to the public with a brand new exhibit, Bon Voyage! 200 Years of Luxury Travel,' said Bill Schroh, Jr., Director of Museum Operations. 'This exhibit tells the stories of five different trips the Livingston and Kean families took between 1780 and 1950. Visitors will be amazed at the objects brought back from around the country and the world.' The exhibit, which incorporates personal diaries and letters from the museum's extensive collection of Livingston and Kean family documents, runs through November 20. (more...)

Westfield Foundation to Fund Playwriting Residency for Senior Citizens

Premiere Stages, the professional theatre company in residence at Kean University, has announced its first playwriting residency for senior citizens, funded by the Westfield Foundation. This is the third Premiere Stages pilot program the Westfield Foundation has funded, having provided previous support for the launch of the now successful Camp Premiere for high school students, as well as for the launch of Liberty Live, which is entering its third year. Liberty Hall Museum has announced it will host an additional Downton Abbey Luncheon on Saturday, February 8 (Noon - 3 p.m.), after January's event and a second Downton Abbey Luncheon scheduled for February 22 sold out in record time. 'We are excited that Downton Abbey is back on the air, but we never dreamed that so many of our guests would be as well,' said Bill Schroh, Jr., Director of Museum Operations. 'Our Downton Abbey trivia game during the January luncheon was one of the toughest I have ever seen. Every guest had their arm raised ready to answer every question. Northfield Bank Foundation to Fund Premiere Stage Playwriting Residencies in Rahway

Premiere Stages, the professional theatre company in residence at Kean University, has announced two new playwriting residencies in Rahway. Funding from the Northfield Bank Foundation has enabled Premiere Stages to return to Rahway 7th and 8th Grade Academy for an eight week in-school playwriting residency in 2014.
