9th Annual HallowBaloo Features Erykah Badu and Expanded Venues

The 9th Annual Hallowbaloo Music & Arts Festival returns for another year of Halloween cheer on Saturday, October 29th. Always on the top of everyone's list of to-do's for the weekend, the festival presents its biggest lineup ever, headlined by DJ Low Down Loretta Brown aka Erykah Badu. The Hallowbaloo Street Festival returns to the Hawaii State Art Museum and surrounding neighborhood, while Club Hallowbaloo expands to include both Chinatown and Aloha Tower Marketplace venues with complimentary trolley service connecting each area. With her director Stephen Hanks, Lisa has created a new show, BULLIED TO BEAUTIFUL, which she will perform in her Metropolitan Room debut on Monday, October 26 at 7 pm. Through her delightful voice and self-deprecating humor, Lisa hopes BULLIED TO BEAUTIFUL will be a show that audiences not only will identify with, but that will also send a powerful message that bullying needs to be stopped. Do you remember classic pop/rock songs of the 1970s such as "Do It Again," "My Old School," and "Reeling In the Years?" If those tunes are swirling around in your head it's because they were big hits of the period by the iconic rock group Steely Dan. The founding member of that great band, guitarist extraordinaire Denny Dias, will take the stage at New York's popular jazz club IRIDIUM on August 6 and 7 for Denny Dias & Friends, a show that will celebrate the music of Steely Dan and showcase a few of his Denny's original songs. Joining Denny will be two special guests: Celebrated pianist/composer/music director Yaron Gershovsky and popular singer Lisa Jason as the show's lead vocalist. Performances of Denny Dias & Friends will be at 8 pm and 10 pm each night.
