BWW Reviews: Thoughtful and Touching MIDDLETOWN at ACT

We don't live in Grover's Corners anymore and a lot has changed in the century since that time. So it stands to reason that a slice of life play like 'Middletown', currently playing at ACT would be a darker and grittier ride than its 'Our Town' predecessor. And while at times it seems like just a series of platitudes on how to live your life, what makes this production what it is are the stirring and heartfelt performances from the ensemble cast. Huntington Theatre Company Announces Honorary Mayor Challenge

When the Huntington Theatre Company brings David Cromer's landmark production of Thornton Wilder's classic Our Town home to New England this winter, local residents will have the opportunity to become Honorary Mayor of Grover's Corners for a day. Huntington Trustee Judi Krupp and her husband Douglas have issued the Make Our Town Your Town Challenge and will match all new and increased gifts to the Huntington's Annual Fund dollar for dollar up to $50,000. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey Celebrates the 75th Anniversary of Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN, Starting October 17

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Thornton Wilder's great dramatic homage to small-town American life and the greater universal experience of life, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents Our Town beginning October 17th and continuing through November 17th at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Ave. (at Lancaster Road) in Madison. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at973-408-5600 or by visiting www.ShakespeareNJ.org. Performances are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.; Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Individual tickets range from $35 to $70; student rush tickets are available 30 minutes prior to curtain for $15. Crosby created the role of Cinderella in the 1987 INTO THE WOODS, first at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and then on Broadway. Academic Theatre at CCBC Catonsville celebrates the 75th anniversary of Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Our Town for its spring production. A classic American play, Our Town explores the ordinary but rather pleasant lives of the community in the fictional town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. March 14, 15 and 16; 3 p.m., March 16 and 17; 10 a.m. March 18 (SOLD OUT) and 1 p.m. March 19 (Nearly sold out) in the Q Theatre at CCBC Catonsville, 800 South Rolling Road, 21228.
