BWW Review: Off-Putting Narrative in a Pretty Box with Book-It's A TALE FOR THE TIME BEING
by Amelia Reynolds - Sep 26, 2016

Dear Readers, Can you imagine reading your diary from when you were 16-years-old out loud, in front of an audience? Now, can you imagine doing it not for laughs, but to recreate those precious, documented moments with emotional integrity? Superimposing emotion over words such as 'My mom just does not understand me,' in a way that feels both authentic and serious is close to impossible, even when the content of the writing is much graver. This was Book-It's noble challenge in its latest production of 'A Tale for the Time Being' as 16-year-old Nao recites the words of her found diary. (more...)

BWW Recap: Chat LIVE as We Recap TIMELESS 10/17 at 10pm ET
by Courtney Henley - Oct 17, 2016

The Hindenburg. Abraham Lincoln's assassination. And now, Rat Pack-era Las Vegas. Our favorite trio on TIMELESS is certainly making their rounds. We're still not sure why Flynn is targeting these specific historical events: aside from Lucy, no one else's timeline has been obviously altered just yet. What we do know is that Connor Mason is up to no good and that he is somehow connected to the mysterious Rittenhouse group. (more...)

BWW Recap: Everything Must Be Burned Clean on WESTWORLD
by Jessica Naftaly - Nov 28, 2016

WESTWORLD's penultimate episode entitled 'The Well-Tempered Clavier' just aired last night and as we head into the finale of the first season, the show proves it's not holding back any of its punches. The show has certainly taken on a bigger life in the online community with fan theorizing and discussion and WESTWORLD does what most shows should follow suit in revealing answers to questions the fans are asking and are already forming their own answers to. By doing so, they avoid the probable let down in the future that comes with an anticlimactic reveal of something the consumers have been building up in their heads for so long in such a grandiose way that the final product could never hold a candle to what they were imagining it to be. They also prove that the show overall, as a narrative and a piece of thematic storytelling, isn't about the twists, despite their existence in the narrative. They exist, but as the theories prove by being completely true, the information was all there from the beginning and the questions about consciousness, autonomy, and humanity are the real grounding force of the epic scale drama that is WESTWORLD. BWW Review: Pinky Swear's LIZZIE Rocks the Revenge Musical
by Andrew White - Jan 16, 2017

Just in time for those winter, presidential inaugural blues, Pinky Swear Productions comes along offering the ultimate rock-scream therapy session with Lizzie, a musical dedicated to America's most famous real-life axe-murderer. Not for the faint-of heart, this is a musical that by rights should be featured in this Saturday's women's march, a reminder that women are perfectly capable of getting in their digs (or whacks, as the case may be) when pushed to the edge.
