Unbound Productions Executive Director Jonathan Josephson, Artistic Director Paul Millet, and Producing Artistic Director Jeff G. Rack have announced the plays that will be included in WICKED LIT 2016, the company's 8th annual immersive theatre event that will for the 7th year take place at Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery in Altadena, California. The production will run from October 1-November 12, 2016 and feature world premiere adaptations of HP Lovecraft's From Beyond adapted by Trey Nichols (The Car Plays), directed by Jeff G. Rack (The Fall of the House of Usher, WL15); Anansi and the Demons adapted by Jonathan Josephson (The Grove of Rashomon, WL15, 2016 Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Festival), directed by Jaime Robledo (The Ebony Frame, WL15; Astroboy and the God of Comics, Sacred Fools); and Ellen Glasgow's The Shadowy Third, adapted by Paul Millet (The Fall of the House of Usher, WL15), directed by Bruce Gray (Black Coffee, Theatre 40). The frame for the show will be Camp Mountain View, written by Josephson and directed by Millet. The frame includes pre-show performances as well entertainment during the evening's two intervals. This Halloween weekend the creative team of Aaron Washington and Keith Eisenstadt will be providing audiences with a different style of haunting. On the evening of Today October 29th and afternoon of Sunday October 30th, Washington and Eisenstadt will present 'Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe'. The show will be a collaboration between directors; Aaron Washington, Keith Eisenstadt, and Lauren Rodriguez. To support literature and the arts in local classrooms, producers will be donating a portion of each ticket sold through DonorsChoose.org. New Sites, Collaborators & Metro Plan Announced for NEVERMORE Saturday 10/29

 On Saturday, October 29, NEVERMORE will celebrate Edgar Allan Poe and the San Fernando Valley by taking five groups of 15 audience members through intimate guided tours along METRO's Orange Line each hour from 11am to 3pm.  Each tour will commence at the Van Nuys Civic Plaza, traverse through Laurel Canyon shops and the Eclectic Company Theatre, and culminate at the North Hollywood Park.  (more...)

BWW Review: Doctuh Mistuh's NEVERMORE Dazzles at Austin Playhouse

NEVERMORE: The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe is a Canadian musical that was written and composed by Jonathan Christenson which follows the rather dismal life and internal struggles of Edgar Allan Poe that later on inspired his work as an author. The script contains references to both his poems and short stories. While most of the script dramatizes true events in his life, other aspects are entirely fictitious. The musical was originally produced at the Catalyst Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta and went on to be performed across Canada, and at the Barbican Theater in London, and the New Victory Theatre in NYC. The current production now playing at Austin Playhouse is a regional premiere. (more...)

FULL CITY+ Announces Run at Manhattanville Coffee

As a life-long fan of Edgar Allan Poe and site-specific theater, I jumped at the chance to attend NEVERMORE, a one-of-a-kind guided tour experience by Metro bus through the San Fernando Valley. Billed as a unique Halloween experience taking place only on Saturday, October 29 celebrating Edgar Allan Poe and the San Fernando Valley, audience members accompanied by a tour guide travelled along METRO's Orange Line each hour from 11am to 3pm. Each tour commenced at the Van Nuys Civic Plaza, and traversed through Laurel Canyon shops and the Eclectic Company Theatre, and culminated at North Hollywood Park. (more...)
