Armenian-American pianist Karine Poghosyan kicks off her spring California tour on Thursday, April 12th at 7pm with a solo recital showcasing the music of Aram Khachaturian at the Brand Library and Art Center in Glendale. Ms. Poghosyan, one of the world's foremost interpreters of Khachaturian's music, will be performing selections from her critically acclaimed debut release, Khachaturian Original Piano Works and Ballet Transcriptions on the Naxos Grand Piano label, featuring many of the composer's rarely heard and relatively neglected works for piano.

With more than 35 events presented in 13 venues throughout the city, including U.S. and New York premieres and nine commissions, the eighth annual international festival will explore transcendence, interior illumination, and faith in the human spirit, as exhibited through artistic expression across continents and centuries. The multidisciplinary festival takes its name from a quotation by Estonian composer Arvo Part: "Icouldcomparemymusic to white light, which contains all colors. Only a prism can divide the colors and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."

Celebrating the power of Jacob's Pillow's natural setting, internationally acclaimed dance company Pilobolus Dance Theater will premiere a new work commissioned specifically for the Pillow's iconic outdoor Inside/Out performance space, set against the Berkshire hills. The Old Globe today shared its 2016 Summer Season, which will feature new and familiar works directed by four major American stalwarts. The season features the welcome return of Steve Martin (Bright Star) with the World Premiere of his new play Meteor Shower, an adult comedy, directed by Gordon Edelstein, in a co-production with Long Wharf Theatre, where he serves as Artistic Director. Paul Gordon's musical Sense and Sensibility will have its West Coast premiere, presented in association with Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where it had its world premiere in February 2015, directed by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines. The Summer Shakespeare Festival will include Macbeth, directed by Brian Kulick, Artistic Director of Classic Stage Company, and Love's Labor's Lost, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.

My Fair Lady (running tonight, June 15, through June 21) is the opening production of The Muny's 97th summer season. 

The Muny announced today the complete cast for its production of Alan Jay Lerner (book & lyrics) and Frederick Loewe's (music) classic My Fair Lady. The production will be directed by Marc Bruni, choreographed by Chris Bailey and music directed by Ben Whiteley.

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.

The program's soloists will include soprano Miah Persson, mezzo- soprano Stephanie Blythe, tenor Frederic Antoun in his Philharmonic debut, bass Andrew Foster- Williams, Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Philip Smith, and the New York Choral Artists directed by Joseph Flummerfelt.
