-Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) returns as the title characters' sinister nemesis, Dr. Blowhole, in Nickelodeon's brand-new Penguins of Madagascar special, 'Blowhole Strikes Back,' premiering Friday, Sept. 9, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The hour-long special features Harris performing in four original musical numbers, two of which he is singing alongside The Penguins of Madagascar characters. The series recently garnered six Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Children's Animated Program, Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program (Danny Jacobs) and Outstanding Writing in Animation. Suervision Media and Broadway Worldwide have plans to bring a handful of Broadway favorites to the big screen in the near future- Memphis, Jekyll & Hyde, Putting It Together, and Smokey Joe's Cafe will all make there way to theatres around the world. Memphis will reach the UK and Ireland in November, and South Africa and Hong Kong later this year. Broadway favorite Neil Patrick Harris is featured in this week's edition of Entertainment Weekly, wher e he gives his own list of Hollywood survival avice. Harris writes, 'I was very musical at a young age. So much so that Churchill Cooke, our elementary school band and choir director, let me teach parts in the choir when I was in the fourth grade. First I played the xylophone, then marimba, cymbals, French horn, bassoon - I became a sort of jack-of-all-trades. It's a mindset that I think never really left me. Mr. Cooke would say, 'We need an oboe part for this piece, Neil. Learn oboe.' And I would say, 'Sure, Mr. Cooke. Who needs friends?' (more...)

Wicked Announces Lottery for $25 Seats

A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of orchestra seats will be held daily for WICKED, which will be performing from September 14-October 9 at The Fox Theatre as a special to the Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta 2011-12 season. Each day, 2¬Ĺ hours prior to show time people who present themselves at the Fox Theatre box office will have their names placed in a lottery drum and then thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only. Twenty-seven years later, Trustus Theatre is not only still in existence, but has grown into an institution of professional and provocative entertainment in the Midlands. In his last season as Artistic Director, Thigpen wanted his 'Swan Song' to be the Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning August: Osage County - a show that many theatre fans call one of the most breathtaking evenings they have experienced in the last 5 years.
