Addiss Receives TRU Spirit Award

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces that the 2010 recipient of the 'TRU Spirit of Theater' Award will be producer Patricia Flicker Addiss. Given to a member of the theater community who has demonstrated exceptional generosity of spirit, and a willingness to support emerging artists and producers, the award will be presented at the annual TRU Love Benefit on Sunday November 14 at Caroline's on Broadway, 1626 Broadway between 49th and 50th Streets, NYC. There will be a cocktail hour at noon with passed hors d'oeuvres, a three-course luncheon at 1pm followed by entertainment and the awards ceremony. (more...)

JERSEY BOYS Deliver Shoes to Boys & Boys Club

JERSEY BOYS cast members made a special delivery to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas on Thursday, September 2 bringing nearly 3,000 pairs of shoes which were collected during the very successful 'Walk Like a Man' shoe drive in honor of their 1,000th show on August 28. The cast presented the shoes and spent time meeting the children of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas. In addition to the shoe donation, the Jersey Boys producers donated 1,000 pairs of socks to accompany to the shoes. (more...)

Bravo Premieres 'Top Chef Just Desserts' 9/15

You may get a sugar high from Bravo's sweetest new series, 'Top Chef Just Desserts' - a spin-off of the 2010 Primetime Emmy-nominated and James Beard Award-winning 'Top Chef,' premiering Wednesday, September 15 at 11 p.m. ET/PT, and moving into its regular timeslot of 10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22. These chefs can have their cake and make it too as the main focus of this competition is the Achilles heel of most chefs: desserts. This time the pastry chefs will see if they have what it takes to out flambe, out frost and out fudge the competition. Gail Simmons, a series judge on 'Top Chef' for the past seven seasons, takes on the hosting duties of this highly competitive series showcasing the best of the best in the world of pastry arts. Joining the judges' panel as head judge is Johnny Iuzzini, one of the country's most celebrated and innovative pastry chefs and Executive Pastry Chef at Restaurant Jean Georges. Two Pence Shakespeare presents their inaugural production, William Shakespeare's 'The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet,' set between the two world wars in Italy, exploring the realities of life after combat. Civil unrest is only the symptom of a society dealing with the effects of war, and Verona is populated by young men recently returned home, experiencing fear, loss, grief ... and the unexpected deliverance of love. As modern day America continues to welcome home returning veterans, this production follows me, trained in the art of war, settling into an uneasy peace with their friends and family already suffering from the post-war economy. How can two young people hope to find peace with each other amidst so much chaos and pain? 'The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet' runs about two hours with one intermission. (more...)
