Communities for Cause Donates $1,000 in School Supplies to Valencia Elementary School

In a recent “Zap the App” contest among Orange County Schools, Valencia Elementary School had the largest number of school supporters that used the free App to record transactions at local restaurants and merchants, all while raising over $700 through simply entering their bill total on the App and taking a picture of their receipt for verification. Valencia Elementary School, a school in Saddleback School District, competed against 80 other schools in 7 Orange County School Districts. (more...)

Richard H. Blake to Join Cast of Broadway's JERSEY BOYS as 'Tommy DeVito' in January

The producers of the Tony, Olivier and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical JERSEY BOYS have announced that Richard H. Blake (Legally Blonde, Wicked) will join the cast on Thursday, January 9, 2014 in the role of 'Tommy DeVito.' He assumes the role from Andy Karl who departs the production following the Sunday, December 1st performance. John Gardiner, who played 'Tommy' on the national tour, will perform the role from December 3, 2013 through Wednesday, January 8, 2014. (more...)

The most wonderful time of the year is underway as rehearsals begin this week for Goodman Theatre's A Christmas Carol, 'a joyous present for the entire family' (Chicago Sun-Times), in its 36th annual production. Directing the holiday favorite for the first time, Henry Wishcamper's production features all-new on stage magic-set elements, special effects and more. The cast of 27 (below, includes 14 new and 13 returning cast members) stars Larry Yando, who most recently appeared in Mary Zimmerman's production of The Jungle Book as Shere Khan, in his sixth turn as Ebenezer Scrooge and 8-year-old Matthew Abraham as Tiny Tim for the second year. A Christmas Carol runs tonight, November 16 - December 28 in the Goodman's Albert Theatre. (more...)

Playwright Lynn Nottage has been named Person of the Year; the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, under the artistic direction of Bill Rauch, is the recipient of the Theatre of the Year Award; and playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury has been selected as the winner of the Barrie and Bernice Stavis Playwright Award.
