Gabe Caruso and Sangwoo ‘Simon’ Lee, 2020 graduates of the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, were selected for their full-length musical SETTLE DOWN: A New Hip Hop Musical.

Capitalizing on the popularity of reconnecting with vintage aesthetics, Laura Wade’s (playwright) HOME, I’M DARLING considers the danger of delving too far into the retro fantasy and trying to recreate a 1950’s life in the 21st century.

The virtual reading of two-time Tony winner Joe DiPietro’s CONSCIENCE is returning by popular demand tomorrow (Wednesday) through this Sunday, November 15th.

The original cast of two-time Tony winner Joe DiPietro’s CONSCIENCE has come together again for a virtual reading of the play with George Street Playhouse for streaming this week ending today (Saturday). Due to the shutdown of theaters throughout the state in March, the world premiere of the production was canceled just days after it opened.  

Hurrah for the green shoots in our beleaguered industry. Lots of venues are mounting new shows and bringing back our favourites over the next few weeks and months - albeit with social distancing and safety measures in place. Here are some of the live theatrical goodies on offer.

This Friday the industry website www.runatitshouting.co.uk will broadcast a Zoom rehearsed reading of Pinter's The Dwarfs, a stage adaptation of his early experimental novel about growing up in Hackney in the aftermath of World War II.

In October Truth to Power Café opens its No Borders World Tour 2020/21 with live and streamed events in three countries, offering people of all ages, experiences and backgrounds the chance to speak their truth to power before a global audience.

Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba and Tony Award nominee Patrick Page head the dynamic cast of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's benefit online reading of Shakespeare in Vegas, a rollicking comedy by Suzanne Bradbeer. Presented by TheatreWorks' New Works from Home program in partnership with Vegas Theatre Company, this fizzy comedy features the unlikely pairing of a Vegas impresario with a dream and a despondent New York actor who join forces to bring the Bard of Avon to Sin City. Directed by Las Vegas native and TheatreWorks' Artistic Associate and Director of New Works Giovanna Sardelli, Shakespeare in Vegas will be offered via video streaming from Thursday, July 23rd at 6PM (PT) until Monday, July 27th at 6PM (PT). A link to stream the show will be available at TheatreWorks.org for no charge, although donations are encouraged to support the 2019 Regional Theatre Tony-winning TheatreWorks Silicon ValleyBroadwayWorld recently caught up with Karen Ziemba from her home in New York. Her remarkable career includes 11 Broadways shows, countless Off-Broadway and regional theater appearances, and a few national tours for good measure.
