Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA; Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director) announces the full cast and creative team for William Shakespeare's tragicomedy The Winter's Tale, directed by OBIE Award-winner Arin Arbus. The production plays March 13-April 15, 2018, at Polonsky Shakespeare Center (262 Ashland Place), TFANA's home in the Brooklyn Cultural District.

The run will conclude, as a scheduled, on February 11.

Written by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton and directed by Anne Occhiogrosso, Centenary Stage Company's mainstage theatrical season continues in the Lackland Performing Arts Center with Reza's 1998 Tony Award and 1996 Olivier Award winning comedy Art from February 16 through March 4.  "Wildly funny, naughtily provocative…" says the NY Post, it all begins when Serge buys an expensive painting by a celebrated artist.  A white canvas with white diagonal lines.  Old friends square off over the canvas, using it as an excuse to hilariously batter one another over various slights and failures.  Art is a hilarious exploration of the very notion of what constitutes art while examining the meaning of friendship.  'Anyone looking for a play that is funny, sophisticated, stylish, stimulating and moving should go to 'ART'.' Austin producer Robert King and The newly re-opened Ground Floor Theatre presented an original work; THE VOICES OF DANNY HATHAWAY for an extremely limited run of just two performances. Normally we don't review such short runs, but having seen King's first original theatrical effort, FOR THE LOVE OF MAHALIA, which I loved, and I was intrigued by his concept.

Set in Georgia and New York City in 1941, He Brought Her Heart Back in a Box is a heartbreaking, nail-biting memory tale of segregation, theatrical yearning, and doomed love.

Jerome Robbins, world renowned for his work as a choreographer and director of ballet and theater, film and television, would have been 100 years old on October 11, 2018. In honor of his life and legacy, The Jerome Robbins Foundation, partnering with other institutions across the country and around the world, will celebrate his centennial year through Spring 2019.

Presented by CAPA, the Lincoln Theatre Association, and the King Arts Complex, The Hip Hop Nutcracker is a contemporary re-imagining of Tchaikovsky's timeless music performed by a supercharged cast of a dozen all-star dancers, an on-stage DJ, and an electric violinist. Kurtis Blow, one of hip hop's founding fathers, will kick off the show with a short set and then rap the introduction.

On January 13th, 1979, the world lost singer Donny Hathaway. Austinite Robert King Jr. has written a new, thought provoking musical, in which he introduces the audience to a side of Donny Hathaway that has never been explored before. Most people are unaware Hathaway battled with voices that haunted and tormented him, all caused by his paranoid schizophrenia. King's new musical suggests that the night prior to Donny jumping off of the 15th story of the Essex hotel that he had a conversation at the bar with a non-fictional charter by the name of Pamela Robinson (Samone Murray). Pamela asks him if he knew that he had one last time to perform in a one night only concert, what songs would he perform? This new show takes the audience inside the hallucination that is that last concert. This new show, THE VOICES OF DONNY HATHAWAY will play at Ground Floor Theatre, Friday & Saturday , January 12th &13th ,2018 at 7:30 pm. The show is written and directed by King, who will be playing Donny Hathaway. The show is produced by Ground Floor Theatre. Broadway World had a chance to talk to King about the new show.
