CHESS and ALICE included - in addition to all about his upcoming concert appearance on November 23 at the Gramercy Theatre. Additionally, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter also expounded upon his career thus far and we took a look back at some of his favorite scores and composers, as well as the individuals to have the most impact on him and how that has played out in both his theatre and recording career. Did somebody decide when I wasn't listening that this would be the season where all translations of classic plays must contain occasional forays into anachronistic contemporary language?  First came An Enemy of the People and Cyrano de Bergerac, and now Carol Rocamora's adaptation of Chekhov's Ivanov, being used in CSC's schizophrenically handsome/punkish production, would have us believing the playwright had his characters uttering the 19th Century Russian equivalents of “harangue,” “He's a real operator” and “Hope you choke.” (more...)

Jersey Boys Las Vegas is sending support to New Jersey, the birthplace of The Four Seasons and backdrop of the hit show, by donating a portion of ticket sales to the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. Beginning today, for select full-price tickets sold for performances between Nov. 27 and Dec. 22 using code JERSEY, Jersey Boys will donate $25 to the American Red Cross. This Past Monday, November 12th, cast members from the national tour of Jersey Boys hosted the a cabaret fundraiser called 'Rock Like a Man' at the Carolina Theatre to benefit BCEFA and the Carolina Arts Discovery Program. Founded by Deb and Ted Spangles, the Spangles Dance Company is an 80's tribute dance company filled with head-turning hotties who are changing the world one body roll at a time.
