Triple threat Lee Roy Reams will be performing a song from 42nd Street in this year's S.T.A.G.E. benefit entitled Original Cast 2 at the Luckman Theatre on Saturday April 2. He has been in the original cast of Lorelei and in more productions of Hello Dolly! and 42nd Street than he can remember. In our recent phone chat he reminisced about the shows and the people he's worked with, including late greats Ruby Keeler & Juliet Prowse and legendary Carol Channing and Jerry Herman. (more...)

Although Angela Gheorghiu was set to star in the production, she withdrew due to what her management calls 'artistic reasons' - in this version of the classic, the setting will be modern, taking place in the 20th century as opposed to the usual staging of the 16th century. I would never have imagined that the story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, would bring together a creative team that would helm a theatrical landmark. After this show, I will certainly never think of juke box musicals as something to fear. Greatness can happen in juke box musicals, and it is on display in Jersey Boys. (more...)

The man who made it happen was Sam Phillips, the 'Father of Rock and Roll,' who discovered them all. Each night, actor Patrick Lewallen gets to live out his rock star fantasy. Currently traveling the country as the scene-stealing narrator Lonny in the First National Tour of ROCK OF AGES, this Kansas City native is busy putting audiences into a head-banging frenzy, as they sing along to a bevy of guilty pleasure tunes from the biggest hair bands of the 80's. His hilarious antics in this Broadway musical--a show now being prepped for its much talked about big-screen adaptation--will soon take center stage at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa for a week's worth of shows on March 1-6. The self-admitted Pepsi addict chatted briefly with BroadwayWorld's Michael Lawrence Quintos about life on the road and his role as a crowd favorite. (more...)
