World Without End, the sequel to Ken Follett's groundbreaking masterpiece, The Pillars of the Earth, has been optioned by TANDEM COMMUNICATIONS to be made into a television series. Ridley Scott and Tony Scott's Scott Free will be producing this worldwide bestseller together with Tandem. The Pillars of the Earth writer John Pielmeier is back to adapt World Without End for a possible eight-hour series. Starz is co-funding the writing portion with Tandem and is in first position to be the U.S. home for the new project, as it is for Pillars. According to published reports, the miniseries will feature stage veterans Ben Chaplin, Peter Firth, Cynthia Nixon, and Charlotte Riley. Also set to join them are Miranda Richardson and Tom Weston-Jones. (more...)

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre closes the 2010-2011 season with the world premiere of See Jane Run!, a new musical by Maribeth Graham and Dana P. Rowe. A multiple nominee and three-time recipient of the Carbonell Award, Graham has appeared in New York City Off-Broadway, many times at Actors' Playhouse and in most major South Florida regional theaters. Rowe, whose musical works include Zombie Prom, The Fix, and The Witches of Eastwick, has received Olivier Award nominations for The Fix and The Witches of Eastwick, both of which were produced in London's West End by Sir Cameron Mackintosh. The Metropolitan Atlanta Theater Awards, founded by Russ Ivey, originated in October of 2004 with the intention of recognizing those hardworking individuals that put their time and effort into Community and Non-Union Professional Theater. There are many aspiring actors that would like to be given recognition for their skills and dedication to the performing arts. Many of those are of the desire to build their resume so that they will be given more audition opportunities. Secondly, many theaters have a hard time marketing themselves so they can draw not only an audience, but a lot of the talent to their shows. This is where the MAT Awards come in. The 'MAT' is one of thirty one different categories that are presented on an annual basis. Each year, an Award Ceremony is held to present those awards to the individuals/theaters that have put the time and effort into making their productions great. (now onstage at Cumberland County Playhouse through September 2) when Jason Ross, the actor playing peddler Ali Hakim comes onstage and action stops for a thundering ovation from the audience. Yep, Jason Ross is so popular with Playhouse audiences that he gets entrance applause - a sure sign that an actor has been doing something right so far as the audience is concerned. Sure, they love other Playhouse veterans just as much, but to say that Jason Ross is beloved by audiences is not, by any stretch of the imagination, hyperbole. (more...)

The workshop, directed and choreographed by Rob Ashford is said to star Julian Ovenden as J.M. Barrie and Kelli O'Hara as Sylvia Llewelyn Davies. Chicago Style., is proud to announce the first recipient of The Guy Adkins Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Music Theatre in Chicago is former Porchlight Music Theatre (Porchlight) Artistic Director L. Walter Stearns. The solo musical comedy debuted in New York last November as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival, where it was named 'Best One-Man Show.'
