Bullock, best remembered for the role of Monroe in the 80s sitcom Too Close for Comfort will be appearing @ Sterling's Upstairs @ Vitello's Saturday March 5 with his all new cabaret act. Jim has had a varied career in television over the last twenty-five years, also making regular appearances on Hollywood Squares and doing a talk show with Tammy Faye Baker. He has always gone back to his theatre roots and recently did the Broadway and cross country tour of Hairspray. In our chat he talks about what inspired him to do the club act at this point in time and his overall love of the theatre. His great off-the-wall sense of humor is still in tact, as he had me laughing throughout.

Seattle Musical Theatre Premieres THE KING'S PROPOSAL, 3/22
by Nicole Rosky - Feb 9, 2011

The Emerald City is known for many things: angst-ridden rock music, questionable fashion choices, gorgeous scenery, and just a tad too much rain. The Broadway world knows there is now another reputation Seattle can boast: great success with world premiere musicals. 'We chose Seattle for a reason,' says Chicago-based playwright Michael Govier, who is bringing his new comedic musical, The King's Proposal (or the Marriage of Princess Guido) to the city as part of Seattle Musical Theatre's 33rd season next month. 'There's a rich history here, and this city is a hot spot for musical debuts-just look at Hairspray, Young Frankenstein, Next to Normal... there are dozens of big guns that have started here.'

Broadway Moms Part 1: The Balancing Act Featuring Marissa Jaret Winokur
by Erin Leigh Peck - Jan 5, 2011

Any working mom will agree: it's a balancing act. Giving 100% of yourself to your job and 100% of yourself to your family means being twice the person and that's just not possible. So how do successful Broadway parents do it? How do they fit in a full night's sleep and full day of parenting while simultaneously performing at night and auditioning or rehearsing by day? It's something I've struggled with since becoming a mom seven years ago. When I'm not working, I miss being on stage and being a working person. When I am working, I'm constantly feeling guilty, overwhelmed and exhausted. Lots of other performing parents seem to do it all with ease, so I decided to talk to two of my favorite Broadway Moms: Original Hairspray Stars Marissa Jaret Winokur and Kerri Butler, to find out just how they perform the balancing act.

The 'Pope of Trash' will put the 'X' back in X'mas with a rapid-fire monologue that explores, explodes and exploits traditional holiday customs, with Waters sharing his compulsions, desires and stories, including his urge to give and receive inappropriate gifts, a religious fanaticism for Santa Claus, and an unhealthy love of true crime holiday horror stories. The performance says Waters, 'will hopefully make you feel better when the Christmas season is making you mental.' Tickets for A John Waters Christmas, which range from $35 - $65, are available at the Harris Theater box office located in Millennium Park at 205 E. Randolph Dr., by calling 312-334-7777 or by visiting www.HarrisTheaterChicago.org.
