Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director), Women's Project (Julie Crosby, Producing Artistic Director) and La Jolla Playhouse (Christopher Ashley, Artistic Director; Michael S. Rosenberg, Managing Director) has announced a one-week extension of its critically-acclaimed, sold out New York premiere production of MILK LIKE SUGAR, a new play by Kirsten Greenidge, directed by Rebecca Taichman. Originally set to play a limited engagement through Sunday, November 20, the production extended through Sunday, November 27 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street). The international cabaret star Mark Nadler packs over 61 songs and 61 newsworthy events in his new show, "Crazy 1961," a celebration of the year of his birth. The show's New York premiere opens on Thursday December 1 at 7pm at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, 407 West 42nd Street, and runs to Sunday December 18. The world premiere took place in June on the other side of the planet at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival where Nadler is a regular headliner. (more...)

On November 7th more than 150 theatre artists and patrons attended the 2011 Castillo Theatre Gala Benefit at the All Stars Project's performing arts and development center, 543 West 42nd Street. The gala, which raised a record $77,000 for Castillo and its youth theatre training program, Youth Onstage!, paid tribute to four influential women of the theatre: Carmen de Lavallade, Gabrielle L.
