DALLAS, FEBRUARY 20, 2015 – The Dallas Opera is preparing to whisk audiences away to the Latin Quarter of Paris for the blockbuster opera of the season: Giacomo Puccini's 1896 masterpiece, LA BOHÈME, based on Henri Murger's newspaper serial-turned-novel, Scènes de la vie de bohème.

Florida Grand Opera (FGO) announces its 74th continuous season of producing opera featuring four mainstage productions for its 2014-15 Season, which will include Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, Georges Bizet's The Pearl Fishers (Les Pecheurs de Perles), and Gian Carlo Menotti's The Consul.

Seattle Opera's 50th Anniversary season continues with The Consul, a riveting Cold-War thriller coming to McCaw Hall for the first time. In this tale, an inhuman bureaucracy poses a formidable obstacle for a woman desperate to flee a totalitarian state with her family. Menotti's intensely human score won the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1950, the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Musical Play and played for more than 100 performances on Broadway. Seattle Opera's production, which features several leading alumni of the Seattle Opera Young Artists Program, opens on Saturday, February 22, and runs for seven performances through Friday, March 7.

On Wednesday, February 27, Pan Asian Repertory Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Tisa Chang, introduced the cast and creative team of Three Trees, a world premiere production that explores Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti's relationship with his muse, Japanese Existentialist Isaku Yanaihara. Pan Asian Repertory Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Tisa Chang, will introduce the cast and creative team of Three Trees, a world premiere production that explores Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti's relationship with his muse, Japanese Existentialist Isaku Yanaihara. Seattle Opera Announces 50th Anniversary Season

Seattle Opera today announced the company's 50th Anniversary Season. Performances of Wagner's Ring kick off the festivities this summer, followed by a subscription series of four operas. Starring singers beloved by the opera-goers of Seattle, the 2013/14 season offers subscribers a healthy variety of comedy and tragedy, reality and fantasy, in a mix of different musical styles and languages. Seattle Opera's anniversary celebration then climaxes in August 2014 with the International Wagner Competition and a special celebration honoring Speight Jenkins, the company's General Director since 1983.

Pulitzer Prize-winner Gian Carlo Menotti, whose works included a string of operas that played Broadway in the '40s and '50s, has died at the age of 95. He passed away of in a hospital in Monaco on Thursday, February 1st.
