Playa's portfolio will include 13 resorts totaling approximately 5,800 rooms across the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Jamaica. In connection with its investment, Hyatt will enter into franchise agreements for six of the 13 all-inclusive resorts, or approximately 2,800 rooms, which will operate as Hyatt-branded resorts. Under an agreement with Hyatt, Playa will have certain exclusive rights to operate Hyatt-branded all-inclusive resorts in five Latin American and Caribbean countries through 2018. (more...)

They will be presenting a 45-minute, plot-driven, re-imagining of Hamlet, with three different actors playing three different Hamlets, and Another Part of the Forest, an As You Like It/Midsummer mash-up. The Chicago Sinfonietta opens its 2013-14 season with "eMotion," a concert continuing Music DirectorMei-Ann Chen's award-winning experimental programming style, moving toward the creation of a new breed of collaborative performance experiences. The "eMotion" concert features music inspired by dance, including a World Premiere arrangement commissioned by the Sinfonietta. The Sinfonietta performs "eMotion" twice, once in its downtown Chicago home venue of Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Avenue, Saturday, September 14 at 8 pm and again in the western suburbs at Wentz Concert Hall of North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Avenue, Naperville, Sunday, September 15 at 4 pm. The Lifeline Storytelling Project (LSP) produces monthly live music & storytelling events designed to develop and showcase young artists affiliated with Lifeline Theatre. Since its creation in 2011 by Lifeline Theatre Artistic DirectorDorothy Milne, LSP has sought to play an active part in the growth of the Chicago storytelling and Live Lit scene. LSP members participate in ongoing writing workshops, share their true stories in Rogers Park venues for an ever-growing audience of fans and friends, and take part in the annual Fillet of Solo Festival (hosted by Lifeline Theatre since 2010). The remarkable pianist Kimiko Ishizaka will perform Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier in a twelve-concert tour. The first concert will take place at the Beethovenfest Bonn in Germany (Sep 24th), from there Ms. Ishizaka will go on to perform in Prague, Czech Republic (Sep 25th & 26th), Munich (Sep 30th), Vienna, Austria (Oct 2nd), Hamburg, Germany (Oct 12th) and again in Bonn (Oct 18th), and Ruiselede, Belgium (Oct 20th). Ms. Ishizaka's North American dates will take her to Ann Arbor, MI (Oct 23rd); the Pianoforte Foundation in Chicago, IL (Oct 26th), Pittsboro, NC (Nov 3rd), and the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC (Nov 6th). Wendy Whelan, whom The New York Times has called 'America's greatest contemporary ballerina,' has danced with New York City Ballet for 29 years. With the company, she has mastered Balanchine's neo-classical repertory, dance classics such as Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake and created works with many of today's leading choreographers. Having reached the height of her field, Whelan, now 46, is embarking on a groundbreaking journey at an age when most ballerinas simply retire from the stage. She has launched Wendy Whelan New Works Initiative, which begins with Restless Creature, a suite of four duets, each with its own distinct style and artistry, created by and danced with Kyle Abraham, Joshua Beamish, Brian Brooks and Alejandro Cerrudo. The work will tour to nine cities this spring including New York, London and Boston from March 18-July 26. (more...)
