2014 sees some new names and some returns to The Crazy Coqs. January starts with the London debut of the sizzling cabaret performer Carole J .Bufford and her show Body and Soul (January 7 - 11) followed by the popular Broadway star Brent Barrett and his show Night Songs (January 14 -18) and then actress and singer Linda Purl with her show Midnight Caravan: Celebrating the Great Ladies of the Glamorous Nightclub Era of the 40s & 50s (January 21 - 25).
The 2013 Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust honored playwrights Annie Baker and Rajiv Joseph at last night's 2013 Steinberg Playwright Awards held at Lincoln Center Theater's Mitzi E. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will host its fourth annual Symphony Gala on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta. The evening will include a performance by Tony Award winner Audra McDonald with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Orchestra's Talent Development Program - which identifies musically-gifted and motivated African American and Latino instrumentalists and prepares them for acceptance into top music programs in preparation for careers as professional musicians. TONY and EMMY Award nominee Ron Raines returns to Broadway as Daddy Warbucks in the new Broadway production of ANNIE at the Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway between 46th and 47th Streets). He will begin performances on Tuesday, December 10. Australian superstar Anthony Warlow will play his final performance as Daddy Warbucks on Sunday, December 8.
Will Eno's new play The Realistic Joneses will come to Broadway in Spring of 2014 starring Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner; Academy Award and Tony Award-nominee Toni Collette (“Hostages,” “United States of Tara,” The Sixth Sense, The Wild Party), Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award-winner Michael C. Hall (“Dexter,” Chicago), Tony Award-winner Tracy Letts (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; August: Osage County; “Homeland”), and Academy Award-winner and Gold Globe-nominee Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny; The Wrestler; Salome). The production will be directed by Obie Award-winner Sam Gold, who is currently represented by Fun Home at the Public Theater.
