Ellie Covan, Founder & Artistic Director of Dixon Place, announced today that the NYC performance company ANIMALS will be awarded the First Annual Tom Murrin Performance Award on Friday, February 8th at 9pm at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street). The award has been created to honor and celebrate the life and work of Tom Murrin (aka the Alien Comic) by providing a transformative career opportunity to an emerging artist, selected by a distinguished panel of producers, artistic directors and artists.

Arena Stage to Present PULLMAN PORTER BLUES, Starring E. Faye Butler, This November

Following its celebrated opening at Seattle Repertory Theatre, Pullman Porter Blues travels across the country to sweep D.C. audiences along for a ride in its world-premiere co-production at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. Inspired by her grandfather's work on the postal trains, playwright Cheryl L. West, whose work at Arena Stage includes Jar the Floor and Play On!, returns with the tale of three Pullman train porters whose journey is underscored by Midwest blues songs, including "Sweet Home Chicago" and "This Train." Directed by Lisa Peterson (Arena's The Rainmaker and The Quality of Life), Pullman Porter Blues runs November 23, 2012 - January 6, 2013 in the Kreeger Theater.
Signature Theatre to Host No Rules Theater Company Through 2015

Commencing this summer, Northern Virginia's Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre will be the new home to the emerging No Rules Theater Company (NRTC) through 2015. The partnership between the two companies will provide NRTC with use of the Theatre's facilities, including office and rehearsal space. NRTC's 2012/13 season, the company's 4th, will be presented in Signature's 115-seat ARK Theatre. Brian Sutow and Joshua Morgan, the company's Co-Artistic Directors, have today announced their upcoming season, which includes Black Comedy from award-winning playwright Peter Shaffer, the world premiere of The Personal(s), and the anything-goes revue, The No Rules Show. Signature, in its new building in Shirlington since 2007, will assist in mentoring the young and quickly growing company as it remains in residence.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Reid Carolin, screenwriter for the upcoming film MAGIC MIKE, is currently working on a 'spin-off' of the movie, which he plans to bring to Broadway as a new musical. Deadline.com has since noted that the musical is gunning for the Great White Way in the summer of 2013. The show will reportedly be produced by Tatum alongside Carolin under the banner of their production company, Iron Horse Entertainment, alongside the film's director Steven Soderbergh, Gregory Jacobs, and Nick Wechsler.
