On Saturday, July 30, Miami City Ballet welcomed dancers and dance lovers from all over the greater Miami area to Miami Beach to celebrate National Dance Day. Over 100 people gathered in Collins Park for a dance party where they learned the 2016 National Dance Day Routine and performed in a flash mob. DJ Hottpants got the party started and was joined on stage by MC and MCB School instructor Herman Payne, with MCB Dancers and J Marcos, dancer and creator of dance-fitness class Videosync, helping to demonstrate. The year is 1960 and Hollywood's most famous film stars are in trouble. The empire of cinema has fallen and a new medium is rising to take its place: television. Judy, a movie star as talented as she is troubled, has decided to take drastic measures in the face of this change and invites America into her home for a televised variety show filled with her most famous friends. But things are not what they seem in this fabulous affair: Satanism, serial killers, madness and mayhem lurk around every corner. It all culminates in a terrifying occult ritual that may or may not end the entertainment industry as we know it. Its world premiere will be presented by Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival September 11 to 20.
