FOLLIES Star Jan Maxwell Hit by Minivan; Misses Weekend Shows But Speedy Recovery Expected

BroadwayWorld.com has confirmed the news with a production spokesperson that FOLLIES star Jan Maxwell was hit by traffic while crossing 45th Street following the Saturday, October 29 matinee. Online reports indicated that the star had been hit by a minivan, suffering injuries to her arm and leg. She was unable to perform on Saturday night and will also be out at the Sunday matinee to stay home and recuperate. She hopes to make a speedy recovery and get back to performing on stage at the Marquis Theatre, which could be as soon as Tuesday evening, November 1. (more...)

FOLLIES Star Jan Maxwell Returns to Show Nov. 1 Post-Accident

As BroadwayWorld.com first reported this weekend, FOLLIES star Jan Maxwell was hit by a minivan while crossing 45th Street following the Saturday, October 29 matinee. The star suffered injuries to her arm and leg. She was unable to perform on Saturday night and was also be out at the Sunday matinee to stay home and recuperate. Her understudy, Colleen Fitzpatrick, went on in her absence this weekend. BroadwayWorld has just confirmed with a spokesperson for the show that Maxwell is back and better, and will resume performances tonight, November 1. (more...)

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has announced that Tony Award nominee JAN MAXWELL will star in Arthur Kopit's acclaimed play WINGS this fall. Directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle (Sweeney Todd, Company), WINGS will begin previews at Second Stage Theatre (305 West 43rd street) on Tuesday, October 5. PTP/NYC, formerly known as The Potomac Theatre Project, in association with Middlebury College, proudly presents its 24th repertory season, its 4th consecutive in New York, running from July 6 to August 1, 2010 in a limited engagement at The Atlantic Stage 2, located at 330 West 16th Street between 8th & 9th Avenues in NYC. This season's line-up includes the World Premiere of Howard Barker's GARY THE THIEF and the NY Premiere of Howard Barker's PLEVNA: MEDITATIONS ON HATRED, both directed by PTP's Co-Artistic Director Richard Romagnoli (American Associate of The Wrestling School), the NY Premiere of Snoo Wilson's LOVESONG OF THE ELECTRIC BEAR, directed by PTP's Co-Artistic Director Cheryl Faraone, and a revival of David Rabe's A QUESTION OF MERCY, based on the Journal by Richard Selzer, directed by PTP's Co-Artistic Director Jim Petosa. Frank Langella Headed Back to Broadway in MAN AND BOY?

Michael Riedel reports in The New York Post today that Frank Langella will return to Broadway next season in MAN AND BOY, a 'long-forgotten but all too-topical play about a corrupt financier.'
