According to the Herald Sun, GHOST, which was to make its Australian premiere at Her Majesty's Theatre in August 2013, has been postponed due to poor advance sales. Producer Louise Withers told HS: 'It's always disappointing when there is a postponement like this but it's a very complicated business. Initially we thought we would be able to use the UK set but it will take too long to transport it in Australia where the market has to be reduced, based on the shorter seasons the show has had in the UK and the US.' An acrobat has been murdered at a party given by the manically depressive former musical comedy star, Dotty Moore, to celebrate the accession of a new Radical Liberal government. Her husband George, an ageing professor of moral philosophy, attempts to rehearse a lecture while ignoring the nearby corpse as his wife entertains his university boss and a chorus of gymnasts from the philosophy department. What follows is a murder mystery thriller displaying Tom Stoppard's verbal ingenuity within an anarchic comical setting of adultery, gymnastics and moon landings. (more...)

One of my favorite things in life was the Broadway musical, but I'd never actually seen one. I had seen school and community and regional productions of musicals with Broadway origins. I had seen Equity and non-Equity tours that replicated Broadway staging. I had even had the incredible opportunities to see the pre-Broadway tryouts of The Little Mermaid and Shrek the Musical with their original star-studded casts in Denver and Seattle, respectively.
