It is a brave decision for a local theatre to take on a show that was not exactly well received for its Broadway run. However, it seems that if it is derived from a popular movie it is certainly worth the risk and, in the end, people will attend the show. In seeing Ghost, The Musical at SoLuna Studio, you will see it is an excellent decision to add this show to their 2015 season. (more...)

Teaching Young Actors to Present BRING IT ON

Drama Learning Center's teen professional company will present Bring It On the Musical next month. Based on the major motion picture franchise of the same name, Bring It On the Musical follows would-be cheer captain Campbell as she is suspiciously re-districted from preppy Truman High to the hard-knock Jackson High. Against the odds, Campbell befriends the head of Jackson's dance crew, Danielle. Together, they form a powerhouse cheerleading squad to stand toe-to-toe with Campbell's old team while they learn about the complexities of friendship, jealousy, betrayal, and forgiveness. (more...)

GODS & KINGS Industry Readings to be Held Next Week

On June 15th and 16th,  The Other Mirror will present a staged reading of the new GODS & KINGS. A Theban king goes to pieces after snubbing the Greek god Dionysus and his pack of wild groupies in this alt-rock adaptation of Euripides's ripping tragedy, The Bacchae. It features music by Neil Douglas Reilly (Clinton the Musical, Little Dancer, Rocky), a book by Austin Ruffer, and lyrics by Maggie Herskowitz (The Edelweiss Pirates) and Austin Ruffer.   The reading is directed by Katherine M. Carter (Drama League, Playwrights Horizons, Artistic Director of The Other Mirror) with music Producer/Supervision by James Dobinson (Clinton the Musical). (more...)

Writers Set for BRITISH MUSICAL FUTURES - A NIGHT OF NEW WRITING, Hosted by Stiles & Drewe

After a huge volume of submissions and a lengthy selection process, the writers who will be showcased at British Musical Futures have been chosen. They are Stephanie Amies & Teddy Clements, Nick Barstow, Tim Connor, Ben Frost & Richard Hough, Tim Gilvin and John Kristian. The evening will be hosted by award-winning writing partnership George Stiles and Anthony Drewe and will take place on 19th April 2015 at the St James Studio. GHOST Returning to Grand Theatre in May

The West End smash-hit Ghost the Musical made its Midlands premiere at the Grand Theatre back in June 2013 and now it returns with a production from West Bromwich Operatic Society. The company, who perform the musical from Wed 13 - Sat 16 May present a first for the show - being the only amateur production to date to perform the show on the same stage as the professional version.
