The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team of the West Coast premiere of OCTOBER SKY, which will blast off the Globe's 2016-2017 Season with a tale of boys, rockets, and big dreams.

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) in association with Chinese Mother Jewish Daughter & Michael Chase Gosselin presents LUDO's Broken Bride, a new rock opera about one man's epic journey to save his true love's life, utilizing LUDO's entire discography. Adapted by Stacey Weingarten (NYMF: Les Enfants de Paris, Rescue Rue) with additional story and arrangements by Dana Levinson, the cast of 14 includes Spencer Clark (Regional: West Side Story, Romeo In Your Arms), Carson Higgins (Nat. Tour: American Idiot; NYMF: The Runaway Clone), Larry Hamilton (Off Bway: You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Captain Louie), Catherine Landeta (Regional: The King and I, Avenue Q, Bat Boy), Melissa Hunter McCann (TV: 'Tony Awards'; NY: Carnegie Hall's West Side Story, Encore's Paint Your Wagon), Gabrielle McClinton (Bway: Pippin; 1st Nat. Tour: American Idiot), Brendan Malafronte (Nat. Tour: Annie, The Producers, Singin' in the Rain), Jamen Nathakumar, Jackson Perrin, Devin Richey, Brian Charles Rooney (Bway: The Threepenny Opera; NYMF: Bedbugs!!!), Ashley Talluto (Nat. Tour: Flashdance, West Side Story), Michael Jayne Walker (Regional: Hair, Godspell, Tommy), and Amy Whitcomb (TV: 'The Voice;' 'The Sing-Off'). LUDO's Broken Bride is being staged at The Duke on 42nd Street a NEW 42ND STREET project, 229 West 42nd Street (bet. 10th and 11th Aves.) in NYC for five performances from Tuesday, August 2 through Saturday, August 6, 2016.

What would you sacrifice for your American dream? Must the American dream come at the cost of human dignity? These are the questions at the center of The New York Musical Festival's Developmental Reading of BREAD AND ROSES, a new musical with book and lyrics by Jill Abramovitz music by Brad Alexander, and direction by Melissa Crespo, inspired by true events and based on the film by Paul Laverty and Ken Loach. The cast features Nick Blaemire (Godspell, The SpongeBob Musical), Jessica Vosk (Fiddler, Finding Neverland), Mandy Gonzalez (In The Heights, Wicked) Ta'Rea Campbell (Book of Mormon, Little Shop) Wally Dunn (West Side Story, All Shook Up), Diomargy Nuñez (Frida Liberada) and Jon Rua (Hamilton).

Seaglass Theatrical will stage an invite only industry presentation of the new musical A Dog Story directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell). The musical written by Eric H. Weinberger (book) and Gayla D. Morgan (music/lyrics) and musical direction by Emily Marshall will take place on April 21, 2016 at 2PM at the Davenport Black Box Theatre (West 45th Street).

The award-winning composer and special guests perform selections from his catalog of stage and screen favorites like 'Magic to Do' from Pippin; 'When You Believe' from the DreamWorks' animated feature, The Prince of Egypt; 'Day By Day' from Godspell and several selections from the Broadway hit Wicked, including 'Defying Gravity.'

On Monday, March 14 the Theater People podcast welcomes HAMILTON star Phillipa Soo. Soo mader her New York stage debut in the title role of Natasha in the critically acclaimed 2013 Off-Broadway production of NATASHA, PIERRE, & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812.

The 1970's was an era of self discovery, rebellion and personal exploration. Broadway was morphing from the stock musical comedy formula towards the darker issues of life not usually seen on the musical stage . There was a young Stephen Sondheim delving into the deep interpersonal relations of marriage in COMPANY and FOLLIES, while Michael Bennett had gathered a group of young dancers who were exposing their inner demons and life stories in A CHORUS LINE. Meanwhile the composer Stephen Schwartz began his career with PIPPIN and would later write hit scores for GODSPELL and WICKED

BroadwayWorld and The Muny announces today the directors, choreographers and music directors for the Muny's 2016 Season, which opens on June 13 with The Wizard of Oz.

Can YOU feel a brand new day? We're gearing up to ease on down the road with powerhouse newcomer Shanice Williams and the rest of the gang from Oz, when THE WIZ LIVE! premieres Thursday, December 3, at 8pm on NBC.  Of course, as was the case in 2013's THE SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE! and last year's PETER PAN LIVE!, the cast is certainly not short on big-name talent — and most come with Broadway or theatrical credits, no less. As if you didn't already know, be sure to look out for Queen Latifah (of 2002's CHICAGO and 2007's HAIRSPRAY), Elijah Kelley (also of 2007's HAIRSPRAY), Uzo Aduba (of CORAM BOY and 2011's GODSPELL), and David Alan Grier (2012's PORGY AND BESS).

OkayBetterBest, a new musical written by Rhonda Kess and Michael Weems and directed by Hunter Foster, will be presented the Ars Nova Loft (511 West 54th Street) as a special industry reading on Thursday, December 3 at 3:00 PM and Friday, December 4 at 3:00 PM. The cast includes Jason Gotay (Bring It On: The Musical, Spider-Man Turn off the Dark), George Salazar (Godspell, Here Lies Love), Julia Mattison (Godspell), Elena Ricardo (Mamma Mia!), Christina Sajous (Holler If Ya Hear Me, American Idiot), Justin Matthew Sargent (Bonnie & Clyde, Rock of Ages) and Remy Zaken (Spring Awakening). After breaking box office records in 2006, 2011 and 2013, WICKED, Broadway's biggest blockbuster, will return to Segerstrom Center for the Arts February 17 - March 6, 2016.

Natalie Weiss recently made her return to Rockwell in Los Angeles. With Will Yanez on guitar, Natalie performed a stripped down set where she sang classic mashups, delivered hilarious banter, and of course broke down a few riffs. Her special guests included Shoshana Bean (Beaches, Wicked, Godspell), Luke Edgemon (The Voice, Glee), India Carney (The Voice), John Pinto Jr. (Book of Mormon).
