The tour of the Broadway revival of West Side Story is coming to New Jersey. West Side Story will open at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on May 1, 2012. Award-winning librettist Arthur Laurents' Broadway direction will be recreated for the tour by David Saint, the Associate Director on Broadway. Mr. Saint is also the artistic director of the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, NJ. The 28th Annual STAGE Benefit was held last weekend at the Saban Theatre Beverly Hills to benefit AIDS Project Los Angeles. Entitled 'Original Cast 3,' it featured performers doing songs from shows with which they are associated. The event raised more than $200,000 for APLA's work with clients living with HIV and AIDS in Los Angeles County. On December 4, 1956, an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley together. The place was Sun Records' storefront studio in Memphis. The man who made it happen was Sam Phillips, the 'Father of Rock 'n' Roll,' who discovered them all. It took two years, a Pulitzer Prize and an Olivier Award-winning London production before happening, but Bruce Norris' searing satire, Clybourne Park, has finally made the six-block transfer from Off-Broadway's Playwright's Horizon to Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre.  The original ensemble of director Pam MacKinnon's excellent 2010 production has been reunited for the playwright's scathing telling of the racial integration of a Chicago neighborhood, as seen through the history of one very significant home. BWW Breaking News: After 5 Years, Toronto Based Dancap Productions Says Farewell

It was announced today in a story by The Star's Richard Ouzounian that Aubrey Dan was no longer involved as producer in the upcoming Prince of Broadway, and that there were not plans for future Toronto shows beyond the 2012 Season. Dancap Productions has been producing commercial theatre in Toronto since 2007, when it exploded onto the scene with a strong freshman season. Shortly thereafter the company produced the Canadian production of Jersey Boys, which ran for two years and played to over two million people. Since Jersey Boys closed Dan has faced an uphill battle, and has made the decision that 2012 will be the company's final season. (more...)
