Pride Films and Plays' Chicago premiere of YANK! A WWII Love Story will be extended by four weeks due to audience demand. David Zak, Executive Director of Pride Films and Plays, announced the extension today. The hit off-Broadway musical, which opened to the press in Chicago on January 18, is the story of a midwestern boy who joins the Army during World War II, falls in love with another soldier in his squad and is later introduced to the gay underground of the Armed Services through a journalist for the Army magazine YANK. Zak directs the musical, with Robert Ollis providing musical direction and Jenna Schoppe choreography.

MANKILLER, one of the featured films in this year's Sedona International Film Festival, is a compelling and inspiring tribute to the Cherokee Nation's first woman Chief, Wilma Mankiller. Gale Anne Hurd and Valerie Red-Horse have skillfully weaved together footage of the turbulent times that tried Wilma's and her people's souls and the testimonials of those who witnessed her achievements. In due course, the history of Wilma Mankiller is the history of the Cherokee Nation and inevitably a verdict on the history of the United States.

Producers Ryan Murphy and David Stone have announced that Charlie Carver ('The Leftovers,' 'Teen Wolf') will complete the cast of the 50th Anniversary production of Mart Crowley's groundbreaking play, The Boys in the Band. Carver will play the role of Cowboy.

Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC) announces their new holiday show, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, a creation by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon. Directed by Andrew Barnicle, this regional-theater hit is a sequel to Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice', and reunites its characters to place the bookish middle sister, Mary Bennet, in the limelight. The production will debut today, November 30, and will run until December 17, 2017.

Roundabout Theatre Company presents the new Broadway production of J. B. Priestley's Time and the Conways, directed by Tony winner Rebecca Taichman (Indecent). Pride Films and Plays' annual fall benefit, Simply Sensational, will feature Broadway musical theater star NICK ADAMS, who originated the role of Adam/Felicia in PRISCILLA: QUEEN OF THE DESERT, in its American premiere on Broadway. Prior to PRISCILLA, Adams had major roles in the hit revivals of A CHORUS LINE, GUYS AND DOLLS, CHICAGO and LA CAGE AUX FOLLES and leads in productions at top U.S. regional theaters including Paper Mill Playhouse, Gateway Playhouse and North Shore Music Theater in the New York metro area, and Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. Adams has also been active in film and television work, with roles in the films SEX AND THE CITY 2, and AN ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK, and the TV series SMASH, AS THE WORLD TURNS, and THE GUIDING LIGHT. The festivities will take place in The Broadway, the 85-seat venue at Pride Arts Center, 4139 N. Broadway, Chicago.
