Riding the Comet-New Jersey-based playwright Mark L. Violi's gripping World War II drama about the French resistance helping American G.I.s escape the Nazis is the third in the Actors' NET of Bucks County staged readings series to appear on the Heritage Center stage in Morrisville. Directed by Kyla Marie Mostello of Levittown, the script in hand production features (alphabetically) Patrick Albanesius, Camryn Barnes, Chuck Donnelly, Mike Gearty, John Helmke, Steve Pié and Katie Skelly. Violi, from Hamilton, NJ, will be at the performance. A talk back session with cast and playwright follows the performance.

Alan Gilbert, who will become Music Director of the New York Philharmonic in September 2009, returns to New York to lead two weeks of programs with the Orchestra. The first series of concerts ? Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2, and 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m. will comprise Dvorák?s The Golden Spinning Wheel; Saint-Saëns?s Violin Concerto No. 3, with Joshua Bell as soloist; and Martin's Symphony No. 4.

The world premiere of The Boys in the Photograph, the latest musical collaboration between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton will take place at the Manitoba Theatre Centre in Winnipeg from April 25 to May 23, 2009. The David Mirvish co-production will then move to the Canon Theatre in Toronto in June 2009.

Shakespeare's Globe Announces Its 2009 Theater Seaason

Shakespeare's Globe is delighted to announce its 2009 theatre season, which opens on Shakespeare's birthday, 23 April, and goes under the overall title of Young Hearts. The Shakespeare plays will be Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, Troilus and Cressida and a revival of Dominic Dromgoole's 2007 production of Love's Labour's Lost, prior to embarking upon a North American tour in the autumn. The 2009 theatre season will also include a range of new work including the Globe's first excursion into full-scale Greek drama in a new version of Euripedes' Helen by Frank McGuinness; A New World, marking the 200th anniversary of the death of Thomas Paine, by Trevor Griffiths and the return of Ch? Walker's explosive, panoramic and funny tale of contemporary London life, The Frontline.

A mother and son screenwriting team hunker down in Omaha after fleeing Commie-obsessed 1940's Hollywood. A romantically-inclined but socially-inept princess makes a deal with an ancient witch. And tommy guns meet test tubes as a way-too-well-dressed first lady of the mob forms a desperate alliance with a cloning scientist whose experiments have had, um, less-than-consistent results. Gangster flicks, fairy tales, and B-movie sci-fi collide in this epic comic fable from the imagination of Charles Busch.
