The John W. Engeman Theater at Northport is pleased to close out its Third Season with the Classic Musical FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. To Life! Set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, this nostalgic favorite and enormously beloved story centers on Tevye (played by Tony Award nominee EDDIE MEKKA, Carmine Ragusa from Laverne & Shirley), the father of five daughters and his attempts, in a life of uncertainty and imbalance, to maintain his family and religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives.

Kelsey Grammer, who is about to make his Broadway musical debut in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, recently sat down with the Today Show's Kathie Lee and Hoda to discuss all things LA CAGE, including the intricacies of the show's elaborate tech and the challenges he faces switching roles just months into the run (opening as Georges, he will switch to the role of Albin around October). BroadwayWorld brings you his interview below.
International City Theatre will close out the first production of its 25th, Silver Jubilee Season, the Los Angeles premiere of a new musical about Silver Screen legend Ginger Rogers entitled BACKWARDS IN HIGH HEELS on March 21st.
Bon soir, bon soir! Welcome to a blog about all things La Cage Aux Folles. 'What legend has told and rumour has promised, we shall do our utmost to deliver!' My name is Sean Patrick Doyle, and I'll be manning (lady-ing?) this internet outpost of our seedy little St. Tropez club. In this reinvented revival, I play Chantal, the Songbird of Avignon, one of the notorious and dangerous Cagelles! It's not just an expression in this revival... keep your hands inside your vehicle (or opera box) or you could get hurt! Those lucky enough to score seats at the cabaret tables that flank our stage are rewarded with continuous harassment from our crass gaggle of lady birds - each with a character drawn so sharply, one head isolation could leave you bleeding.

Probably my favorite recording of my all-time favorite Christmas song, Frank Loesser's 'Baby, It's Cold Outside!', is the barn-burning opener to one of the best Christmas albums out there, Broadway Cares' HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. While Christmas may be passed, and Valentine's Day just around the corner, it certainly warms the heart a bit to think that the audible affection affected by Alan Cumming and Liza Minnelli on that track spills over into real life, as they happen to be the best of friends. This week we will take a look at Alan Cumming's first solo album, I BOUGHT A BLUE CAR TODAY and Liza's just-released concert film which was recorded at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas late last year, around Christmastime, LIZA'S AT THE PALACE...
Chita Rivera, Debra Monk and Karen Ziemba - three beloved actresses well-known for their work in Kander and Ebb musicals - will be joined by other stars, including Heidi Blickenstaff ([title of show], LITTLE MERMAID) and host David Hyde Pierce (Tony Award-winner star of Kander and Ebb's CURTAINS) to pay tribute to John Kander and the works of Mr. Kander and his late collaborator Fred Ebb when the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Vineyard Theatre honors John Kander at its annual Vineyard Theatre Gala on Monday, March 8 at the Hudson Theater (145 West 44 Street) in Manhattan, it has been announced by Douglas Aibel, Artistic Director of Vineyard Theatre.

As their website says, 'nothing is sacred in this satirically funny, fast-paced romp through all things Texas with a special focus on San Antonio AND a few holiday twists.' 'High Hair and Jalapeños' returns to San Antonio, this time at the Josephine Theatre, for a third serving of laugh-out-loud slapstick Texas humor.

The entirety of The Public Theater's positively scrumptious new Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night is played on and around designer John Lee Beatty's grassy field, which is dominated by two large hills. It's the kind of setting that might remind you of dozens of locales in Central Park where brave little tykes might scurry down the steep inclines or where lusty couples might settle down for a quick afternoon make-out session or where a toddler's parent might amuse his kid by popping his head out from behind the soft green hiding place. It's a playground and director Daniel Sullivan - who incorporates all the above in his lighthearted staging - seems to have encouraged his delightful company to play, making an all-star cast of theatre pros (joined by a movie star ringer with legit experience) charm like a summer stock company showing off their youthful enthusiasm.
