Broadway's Kate Shindle---currently traveling the country playing Allison Bechdel in the first national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical FUN HOME---is not only an accomplished singer, actor and dancer, she is also a published author and an outspoken activist. In 2015, Shindle was also elected president of Actors' Equity Association. But before FUN HOME makes its OC debut August 1 - 6 at Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Shindle chatted with BroadwayWorld's Michael L. Quintos about her role in this groundbreaking musical, being AEA President, and what her life has been like on the road!

Smuin kicks off its 24th season with a vibrant Dance Series 01 program, featuring the West Coast premiere of Annabelle Lopez Ochoa's transcendent piece Requiem for a Rose, which examines the differences between love and romance. Ochoa is an internationally acclaimed choreographer who both choreographs contemporary dance works and adapts her style for classical ballet companies. Also on the program is Michael Smuin's joyful tribute to Ol' Blue Eyes, Fly Me to the Moon. This blend of ballet and popular dance is the embodiment of the smooth and stylish melodies that have inspired generations, including Sinatra's renditions of "I've Got You Under My Skin" and "The Lady is a Tramp."

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, the Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, today announced that the nominees for the 2017 Outstanding Emerging Choreographer Award are Lela Aisha Jones, Niall Jones, Will Rawls, and Kate Skarpetowska. The Bessies are also thrilled to announce that Abby Zbikowski will receive the 2017 Juried Bessie Award.

Presented by Equity's Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA), the ACCA Award is the only industry accolade of its kind to honor the distinctive talents and contributions made by the original chorus members of a Broadway musical.

Artistic Director Conrad Lynch today announces the ensemble for the Theatre by the Lake's Summer Season - the first time the theatre has featured two-companies. The festive evening included a cocktail reception on the center's terrace, after which guests were seated on the main floor for a delectable dinner catered by McCall's with wines by Grgich Hills Estate. The Smuin dancers hit the stage, performing dazzling works created by Val Caniparoli and Michael Smuin that brought down the house. Held Sunday, March 19 at The Galleria at the San Francisco Design Center, the Gala raised more than $455,000, setting a new record for funds raised in support of Smuin's spectacular programming.

Directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, this classic tale filled with love, laughter, and mistaken identity features original songs composed by Heather Christian and dances by Alexandra Beller. As You Like It is on stage from January 24 through March 5, 2017.
