Tom, the restless and sensitive son who narrates the story, eases his frustrations with nighttime escapes 'to the movies.' At Amanda's urgings, Tom asks a co-worker to dinner. Smuin Ballet closes its 20th Anniversary Season with two World Premieres and a Michael Smuin classic, touring the Bay Area May 2 - June 7, 2014 in the XXcentric Spring Dance Series. The program will feature one act of Michael Smuin's ebullient Dancin' With Gershwin ballet, back on the Smuin stage for the first time since 2008. XXcentric will also include World Premieres from Smuin's Choreographer in Residence Amy Seiwert and Val Caniparoli, internationally renowned choreographer and principal character dancer at San Francisco Ballet. The XXcentric Spring Dance Series will kick off its tour at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco (May 2-11), continuing at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek (May 16-17); the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (May 21-25); and at the Sunset Center in Carmel (June 6-7). Anne Hathaway married William Shakespeare in 1582, raised their children, and buried her husband in 1616. The rest of their 32 years of marriage is one of literary history's great mysteries. This mystery provides a dark and comedic playground for this beautiful and lyrical solo performance piece written by Vern Thiessen. Performances are Thursday & Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 4pm and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are $24 and may be purchased online at www.pontine.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door and half-hour prior to performances (cash & check only) based on availability. Rehearsals are underway and tickets are now on sale for Happy Few Theatre Company's inaugural production, a seven-person adaptation of Shakespeare's As You Like It in which every member of the ensemble will play multiple parts. Featuring original music performed by the cast and a modern setting, the production will open at Theaterlab NYC on W. 36th St. tonight, April 10, 2014, with performances running through April 27, 2014.
