The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music, kick-starts its 22nd season with an appreciative salute to multi-generational composers and artists who have led and continue to be leading the contemporary music vanguard. Featuring two resolute proponents of new music, guest soloists Conor Hanick (piano) and Matt Haimovitz (cello), the program includes the regional premiere of Matthew Aucoin's first concerto, as well as pieces by William Schuman, David Sanford, and John Harbison.

2018 Paul Taylor American Modern Dance Season Announced

Paul Taylor American Modern Dance (PTAMD) will present its annual Season at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center from March 7 to 25, 2018. The Season will introduce the World Premiere of Paul Taylor's 147th dance, and feature World premieres of dances choreographed by Doug Varone and Bryan Arias commissioned through Taylor Company Commissions and made on the Taylor dancers. Special guest artist Sara Mearns, New York City Ballet Principal Dancer, will perform Dances of Isadora reconstructed by Isadora Duncan Dance Company Artistic Director Lori Belilove. Trisha Brown Dance Company will perform Trisha Brown's Set and Reset. Music will be performed live on every program by Orchestra of St. Luke's, conducted by Taylor Music Director/Maestro Donald York and Maestro David LaMarche. Tickets go on sale September 15 at www.boxoffice.dance.

Tickets are now on sale for WAM Theatre's fall Mainstage production of The Last Wife by Kate Hennig, directed by Kelly Galvin. The play premiered at the Stratford Festival in 2015 and enjoyed a completely sold-out and extended run. Hot on the heels of the record-breaking, critically hailed Satchmo at the Waldorf, Mosaic Theater Company of DC's Season Two continues with Kirsten Greenidge's riotous, Obie Award-winning MILK LIKE SUGAR (November 2 - 27, 2016), under the direction of Mosaic Theater's Jennifer L. Nelson (The Gospel of Lovingkindness). The play, Mosaic's second DC premiere this season, is a rousing story about young women coming of age in a time when issues of acceptance, mentorship, and materialism challenge the dreams and ambitious of so many teens. It is the first of three plays in Mosaic's 2016-17 season to highlight issues affecting young urban teens and millennials, to be followed by the DC premiere of Philip Dawkins' intergenerational LGBTQ comedy Charm, and the world premiere of Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm's Hooded: Or Being Black for Dummies.

The Variation String Trio, comprising violinist Jennifer Koh, violist Hsin-Yun Huang, and cellist Wilhelmina Smith, makes its New York City debut performing works by living composers including Kaija Saariaho's Cloud Trio, selections from Gyorgy Kurtag's Signs, Games and Messages, and Andrew Norman's The Companion Guide to Rome. The concert opens the 92nd Street Y's Soundspace series this season in Buttenwieser Hall on Wednesday, November 30 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets, priced at $25, are available at 92Y.org/concerts or by calling (212) 415-5500.
