Producer Jeffrey Finn announced today that the upcoming, first-ever Broadway production of OLEANNA, the provocative drama by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet starring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles, has instituted a special post-show series for audiences during previews.

Twelve early-career directors and designers have been selected for the 2009 NEA/TCG Career Development Programs for Theatre Directors and Designers. The recipients were chosen by an independent, national selection panel composed of theatre professionals. These programs are administered by TCG, in association with the National Endowment for the Arts, with major support from The Ford Foundation.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center has announced the start of its Open Submission Process for projects to be considered for development during the 2010 National Music Theater Conference and National Playwrights Conference.

This exhibition, organized by the Sheldon Art Galleries , St. Louis , presents an overview of photographs and selected sculpture by William Christenberry from the 1960s onwards which illustrate the artist's interest in and reaction to the sculptural forms of vernacular structures and cultural artifacts of Hale County, Alabama, where the artist spent his childhood and early adult years.

In less than one year, Arena Stage will take up occupancy in its extraordinary new theater campus, The Mead Center for American Theater, currently under construction in Southwest D.C. On June 26, 2009, Chicago Opera Theater (COT) was awarded a $500,000 multi-year grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. This grant, to be used in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Seasons, will support three contemporary and three Baroque opera productions.

The conference, founded in 1964 and led by Lloyd Richards from 1968-1999, is now helmed by Artistic Director Wendy C. Goldberg.

This spring, the Metropolitan Opera will present The Audition, a documentary film about the intense challenges and pressures young opera singers face as they try to become opera stars. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Susan Froemke, The Audition will be shown on 400 screens across the country on April 19 at 3pm EST (and in Canada on June 6 at 1pm EST) as part of the Metropolitan Opera's series of high definition presentations in movie theaters and performing arts centers. The Audition is a suspenseful competition narrative that provides a revealing behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to make it as an opera star. The feature-length film documents the 2007 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, where each year thousands of hopefuls compete for a cash prize, the chance to sing on the storied Met stage-and the opportunity to launch a major operatic career. The film focuses on the final week of the competition, as judges narrow the field down from 22 semi-finalists to11 finalists while the stakes get higher and the pressure grows more intense. The documentary crew was given unprecedented access to the singers, judges, and events backstage at the Met.

Sherman Cymru's hit production, Deep Cut, which received critical acclaim and won numerous awards at last year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe, will open at London's Tricycle Theatre this March. Winner of a Scotsman Fringe Fringe First, Herald Angel, the Amnesty Freedom of Expression Award and both Best Actress (Rhian Blythe) and Best Actor (Ciaran McIntyre) at the Stage Awards for Acting Excellence, Deep Cut was one of the must see shows of the Edinburgh Festival.
