Students from Lawrence Academy of Music will have a chance to appear alongside Broadway performers in Elf the Musical at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center November 13-18. BWW Reviews: Technical Magic Shines in Seattle Children┬'s Theatre┬'s THE WIZARD OF OZ

It's tough taking on an icon, especially an iconic movie and trying to translate that onto stage. But that's exactly what Seattle Children's Theatre is attempting with their current stage production of the iconic 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz" based on L. Frank Baum's 1900 book. And while the technical artistry of the show is top notch and completely conveyed the magic of the film, a few of the performances left me wanting. (more...)

Celebrated recording artist and co-star of the TV phenomenon "The Voice" Cee Lo Green brought a technically savvy, high energy rap and rock show to the Agua Caliente Resort Spa Casino's THE SHOW, one of the best concert venues in Southern California, to a "near sold out" and very eager crowd. Ceelo is definitely a showman - but the concert proved to be more hype than substance. The entertainment factor was high --- the vocal prowess was not. Just like "The Wizard of Oz" --- if you took away all of the special effects that propped him up, the magical "man behind the curtain" was a bit disappointing. (more...)

Centenary Stage Company will present The Wizard of Oz for their Holiday Musical Spectacular. Opening this Friday the 23rd at 8 p.m., shows are already filling up fast. Audiences can begin the holiday season with a family classic brought to life at the Sitnik Theatre in the David and Carol Lackland Center. Featuring a cast of 50 actors on the stage, The Wizard of Oz is a musical tradition following the story of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Lion and Toto, too. These beloved characters visit Hackettstown on their way to the Emerald City, as CSC presents the ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY'S (RSC) adaptation by Frank Gabrielson and John Kane, with Music and Lyrics from the MGM motion picture score by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg. The RSC said this adaptation came about when the Artistic Director of the company asked for a show that could be performed annually over the Christmas season, so this show is especially made for families to celebrate the holiday season. ETonline reports that Julien's Auction house has sold the dress worn by the character 'Dorothy' in the iconic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz for a a whopping $480,000.
