Women Are Crazy Because Men Are A**holes will have its West Coast premiere at West Hollywood's Macha Theatre July 25 through September 25, 2013. The premiere is presented by Bleeping Crazy Entertainment in association with Macha Theatre/Films and follows a brief workshop production in Los Angeles and a world premiere in Chicago... both executed during 2011. Show Boat, the American musical masterpiece with a grand score by Oscar Hammerstein and Jerome Kern that includes the classic songs 'Ol' Man River' and 'Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man,' is the next show in the 2013 Music Circus season, at the Wells Fargo Pavilion from July 9 - 14. Generally considered America's first true musical, the show has not been at Music Circus in 12 years, and this is its first time at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. Yesterday, we learned that Atlanta's Theater of the Stars had cancelled the July 9 - 14 engagement of Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story at the Fox Theatre. Today we've learned is that the entire theater is in jeopardy if they are unable to raise $1 million dollars by August 30th, with the first $500,000 by July 12th. (more...)

As much as the Judy Garland film version of 'The Wizard of Oz' upholds its status as a classic, there's something about seeing the joyous musical live that makes it immensely more enjoyable. As performed in the round at Music Circus, glorious orchestrations (led by conductor and music director Jeff Rizzo) and ethereal, surround-sound vocals from ensemble members enhance the magic, taking audiences somewhere over the rainbow as Dorothy awakes in a new land with Munchkins, ruby slippers, witches and more. THE WIZARD OF OZ Kicks Off 2013 Music Circus Season Today

The timeless classic family musical The Wizard of Oz, based on the beloved 1939 film starring Judy Garland, kicks off the 2013 Music Circus season with an extended run at the Wells Fargo Pavilion from today, June 21 - 30. Filled with favorite songs like 'Over the Rainbow' and 'We're Off to See the Wizard,' fans of all ages will once again be delighted as they follow Dorothy, Toto, Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion on an enchanting adventure along the Yellow Brick Road to Oz. The Music Circus production will be the Royal Shakespeare Company version of the musical, which was first presented at the Barbican Centre in London in 1988 and is based closely on the classic film. California Musical Theatre Executive Producer Richard Lewis announced a varied lineup of musicals for the 2013 season of Sacramento Music Circus at the Wells Fargo Pavilion, the 63rd season for what has become a Northern California summer tradition. The five-show season will include the Music Circus premiere of the Kander and Ebb hit Chicago; a production of The Wizard of Oz based on the iconic movie; the Wells Fargo Pavilion premiere of the American theater masterpiece Show Boat; the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic The King and I; and Sugar, the stage version of the classic film comedy Some Like It Hot. WICKED, the musical that reminds us that so much happened before Dorothy dropped in OZ, is visiting Houston's Hobby Center for the Performing Arts for the fourth time this summer. There is no denying that excitement is growing in Houston. Billboards for the show line our highways, commercials play on our TVs and radios, and everyone is buzzing about the much-loved musical. Recently, I chatted with Alex Wyse, who joined the cast as Boq on June 6, 2013.
