As BroadwayWorld speculated last month, Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown (Parade, 13, The Last Five Years, Songs for a New World) will be joined by Tony Award-winning stage and screen star Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls) and The Caucasian Rhythm Kings for a special three-night concert engagement this spring at the Henry Street Settlement - Abrons Arts Center (466 Grand at Pitt), according to official press notes. UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG to Close Early on May 21

The show opened at the Gielgud Theatre on March 22. The Australian Production of LOVE NEVER DIES, Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, is set to open at Melbourne's Regent Theatre next May, with a creative team that features Simon Phillips as director, Graeme Murphy as choreographer and Gabriela Tylesova as set and costume designer. The sequel is set in 1907 in New York's Coney Island theme park, where the Phantom has resided since fleeing the Paris Opera House a decade earlier - and where he lures Christine in a final bid to win back her love. I have been thinking about Ilse. Remember, the lonely artist girl from Spring Awakening, who was shut out by her family after fleeing from abuse? I think about her un-tied hair, the men's white workshirt she wore, her bare feet and the wildflowers she brought as peace offering to Moritz. I am haunted not only by the notion of the pain she must have endured upon realizing she had been disowned, but also by the physical image of this girl, a specter really, who has recently reentered my consciousness and made me ache like she is real. But for the improv actors at Wing-It's production of their improvised 1950's Rock 'n Roll musical, "Goin' Steady: The Musical" it's just another day at the office.
