This week, we are taking a listen to a pair of crossover theatre/pop stars who have two timely new releases. Both performers have been featured in the Olympics this year, Wilkinson's 'This Is The Moment' from the JEKYLL & HYDE concept album and Brightman's Olymptic green theme, 'Shall Be Done', playing prominent roles in the proceedings. Also, both performers were involved in the original 1985 Sydmonton workshop of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and just this week the curtain went up on the sequel to the Andrew Lloyd Webbber mega-hit, LOVE NEVER DIES. Both engaging entertainers continue their winning streaks, so to say, with these recent efforts...

The 2009-2010 season of Reprise Theatre Company continues with 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,' 1962's Tony-Award-winning Best Musical, March 16 to 28 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. Directed by David Lee, the production's book is by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

'Handel's Messiah,' performed by Pacific Symphony, is perhaps the perfect way take refuge from the hectic pace of the holidays and celebrate the season in a serene and meaningful way. This year, the most famous oratorio in the world is led by British guest conductor William Lacey and features the Pacific Chorale and four seasoned veterans of the opera and solo stages-soprano Christine Brandes, mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Batton, tenor Benjamin Butterfield and baritone Timothy Mix-singing some of the most beautiful music ever written. Taking place on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 3 p.m., in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, the Symphony's annual performance-the first of several holiday concerts-includes blazing trumpets, thundering timpani, the exhilarating 'Hallelujah' chorus, and a message of hope in a year of tribulations.
