The Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts 2014-2015 Recital Series begins with a performance by Crystal Award-winning pianist Sean Chen at Pepperdine University at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 19. Due to popular demand, this performance has been moved from Raitt Recital Hall to the larger Smothers Theatre.

Mitchell-Innes & Nash is delighted to announce its representation of the work of Nancy Graves through The Nancy Graves Foundation. The gallery's first Graves exhibition focuses on works depicting flora and fauna in media ranging from gouache and watercolor on paper, to painting, to bronze polychromed sculpture. The show presents work from the 1970s to the 1990s, and is on view through June 27, 2014.

On September 19th at City Winery in New York City, public radio's Afropop Worldwide celebrates 25 years of introducing Americans-and a global online community-to the most exciting music on the planet. The gala concert features Grammy Award Nominee and ngoni (African lute) virtuoso Bassekou Kouyatefrom Mali and his electrifying band Ngoni Ba. Special guest artists include Mali's Mamadou Kellyand Sudanese singing star Omer Ehsas and others. Harry Belafonte is Honorary Chair of the gala.

Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Dominick Argento, who celebrates his 85th birthday on October 27, has made a commitment through a charitable remainder trust to endow a professorship at the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music to the value of $1.5 million. In honor of Argento, who received his Ph.D. in composition at Eastman in 1958, the endowed position will be named the Dominick J. Argento Professor.

Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that Al Pacino's star power has earned The Merchant of Venice the winners spot for the fall's highest advance generating show. The production, which opens at the Broadhurst Theatre on November 7, 2010, has reportedly taken in approximately $4M, beating out all incoming fall plays and musicals.

Daniel Sullivan will direct THE MERCHANT OF VENICE in rotating rep with THE WINTER'S TALE, directed by Michael Greif. The repertory company will feature Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Solanio/Young Shepherd); Jesse L.
