Tickets are now on sale for the Broadway premiere of Pictures From Home. Three of the theatre’s most inventive, inspired and award-winning artists will return to the stage, bringing to vivid theatrical life a comic and dramatic portrait of a mother, a father and the son who photographed their lives.

If you were under the impression that the term 'Opéra Comique' meant a 'comic opera', you might be literally correct, but truthfully the joke would be on you. What does it really mean? Opéra Comique is a genre of French opera first developed in the eighteenth century.

Next up at Laguna Playhouse, Love Among the Ruins world premieres October 30, 2022 (with previews starting October 26th). Michael Arabian directs the stellar cast of JoBeth Williams and Peter Strauss in this adaptation of the 1975 ABC Theatre Presentation that starred Katherine Hepburn and Laurence Olivier. Peter graciously found some time between rehearsals and his orange farm to answer a few of my queries.

The Wilma Theater in Philadelphia will present the world premiere of SCHOOL PICTURES, a warmhearted and humorous portrait of modern high school life, told in musical snapshots of individual teenagers, on stage Nov. 2-20.

Immediately following the September 25 opening performance of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, bass Ferruccio Furlanetto, who performed the role of Prince Gremin in the opera, was presented with the San Francisco Opera Medal.

Private Collection / Closed for Installation, a free immersive art experience created by award-winning designer David Korins and renowned hyperrealist artist Robin Eley, has officially opened to the public. The experience celebrates iconic lost, stolen, or privately-held works of art. See photos from the exhibition.

The Ancram Opera House, in collaboration with Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company, presents STILL LIFE,  by internationally renowned playwright, director and producer Emily Mann, and directed by Mann's good friend and protegee, Jade King Carroll, who was recently appointed Producing Artistic Director of Chautauqua Theater Company.

New York City Opera will present Romance in Opera on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 7pm at Wollman Rink in Central Park. Stars of the New York City Opera stage bring romance to life, with love stories as passionate as the music itself.

Mike Dixon is undoubtedly one of the British music industry's giants. He has brushed shoulders with some of the elite artists of the 20th (and 21st) centuries, including Dame Shirley Bassey, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, and Queen (to name but a few). Despite this roaring success, Dixon's biography, 'Turn Around A Take A Bow: My Musical Life' is one of humility and heart.

For years the fans have wished for a CD release of Liza's 1979 Carnegie Hall concert. Now, thanks to the folks at Real Gone Music, it is.

Popejoy Hall will present two musicals still running on Broadway as well as a couple of well-known stars as part of its 2022-2023 season. The season includes 21 shows overall with a total of 50 performances from October 6, 2022 through June 11, 2023.

Considered to be the 1st Straight Edge branded band, SSD formed in Boston in 1981. The band gained notoriety within the local music scene for their performances and the provocative antics of their group of followers, the Boston Crew. The original lineup was Al Barile on guitar, Springa on vocals, Jaime Sciarappa on bass and Chris Foley on drums. 

Pasadena Playhouse has announced the 2022/2023 Season featuring a six-month-long celebration of the works and impact of Stephen Sondheim.  The State Theater of California’s Sondheim Celebration will begin in January 2023 and extend into June.  Find out what shows are included and the full schedule.

But this album also dazzles with its stylistically promiscuous range, from the crowd rousing “We Will Rock You,” the tongue in cheek “Fat Bottom Girls,” the stomp-stomp-stomp late 70’s disco inspired “Another One Bites the Dust,” to the jukebox retro-rock homage “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and the gospel-fired “Somebody To Love.”

Porchlight Music Theatre has announced the current roster of music theatre and cabaret talent performing in this year’s annual Chicago Sings fundraising concert, Chicago Sings Stephen Sondheim, Monday, May 23, at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

In 1946 before Julia Child rose to fame James Andrew Beard became the first “celebrity” cook with the premiere of his NBC cooking show, “I Love to Eat.” Television sets were still black and white back then and there may have been 1000 sets total in all of Metropolitan New York, but between Howdy Doody and the 9 o’clock hour, you could experience the culinary delights of James Beard.

SHE'S GOT HARLEM ON HER MIND, an evening of three award-winning one-act plays, was originally scheduled to run from February 3 through February 27, 2022.  The pervasive spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, though waning in the New York City metropolitan region, still poses too great a threat to the health of artists and patrons to warrant attempting to stage the production.
