Boise Contemporary Theater to Open 20th Season with A SKULL IN CONNEMARA

Boise Contemporary Theater today announced the full casting for the opening play of its 20th Season, Martin McDonagh's A Skull in Connemara. Set in the Irish village of Leenane, the play follows Mick Dowd (Arthur Glen Hughes), a gravedigger who, every autumn, disinters bones from his local cemetery to make room for new arrivals. When Mick has to dig up the grave of his dead wife, Oona, the locals begin to wonder, once again, what role Mick played in her sudden death seven years ago. (more...)

Full casting has today been announced for the West End run of the Royal Court Theatre's production of Hangmen. ProducersRobert Fox, Matthew Byam Shaw for Playful Productions and Royal Court Theatre Productions are delighted to announce that Andy Nyman will play Syd, Craig Parkinson will take on the role of Inspector Fry and Tony Hirst will play Bill, completing the cast of the West End production. Lantern Theater Company continues its 2016/17 season with the Philadelphia premiere of An Iliad, written by Lisa Peterson and Tony Award-winning actor Denis O'Hare and based on Robert Fagles' acclaimed translation of Homer's Iliad. M. Craig Getting directs a cast that includes Barrymore Award-winners Peter DeLaurier and Liz Filios; Filios also serves as co-composer, working with sound designer Michael Hahn to create the evocative original music that scores the production. BWW Review: The Gamm's Deliciously Dark A SKULL IN CONNEMARA

Dark humor can be a challenge at times, but when it works, it can be so completely satisfying that it sticks in your mind long after the show is over.  A Skull in Connemara is one of those shows, and not only is author Martin McDonagh's writing is a delightful exploration of the twisted and macabre, but the outstanding performances of Jim O'Brien, Jonathan Fisher, Wendy Overly and Steve Kidd deliver McDonagh's words to the audience and leave them laughing until it hurts.  This is a play that's strange and sinister, but so thoroughly hilarious that it's hard to describe, and director Judith Swift captured the spirit of it perfectly. Following successful tours of Alan Ayckbourn's Absent Friends and Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot in 2015, today London Classic Theatre Artistic Director Michael Cabot announces a new production of Harold Pinter's The Birthday Party. Cabot directs a cast including Jonathan Ashley (Goldberg), Gareth Bennett-Ryan (Stanley), Cheryl Kennedy (Meg), Ged McKenna (Petey), Declan Rodgers (McCann) and Imogen Wilde (Lulu).
