Now that we've gotten to know our principles, it is time to get down to the foundation of any great show…the ensemble.

If your appetite for Shakespeare's history plays was whetted by PBS's recent series "The Hollow Crown," be of good cheer; King John is now receiving a solid production by the WSC Avant Bard. A rare gem, King John is a must for Shakespeare enthusiasts, not least because the play's complex plot renders it extremely difficult to stage. You will have the rare treat of seeing this unjustly neglected piece in fine form.

Like a page straight out of a comic opera, 'The Most Happy Fella' utilizes a trio of comic relief to introduce us to the world of Tony's Vineyard and just how damn Italian it all is. This relief comes in the form of three chefs that work for Tony and when not cooking, they belt out their powerhouse voices (you have NO idea what you're in store for until you hear them!) that bring down the house eight shows a week. This week I give you the actors that bring Pasquale, Guiseppe and Ciccio to life - Martin Sola, Greg Roderick and Daniel Berryman. I hope you enjoy getting to know this tasty trio! (I promise that sounded a lot less creepy in my head)

Whether it is a case of art imitating life, or the other way around, 'I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change,' playing now through April 14th at Stage Door Players, is a hilarious, slice-of-life musical that holds the mirror up to human nature, and then laughs at it. With book and lyrics by Tony-Winner Joe DiPietro ('Memphis') and music by Jimmy Roberts, this fast-paced, four-person show chronicles the all-too-familiar stages of love; from awkward first dates to the insanity of married-life.

Cutting Ball Theater continues its 14th season with Eugene Ionesco's THE CHAIRS, in a new translation by Rob Melrose. This tragic farce, in the tradition of Cutting Ball's hit productions of Ionesco's The Bald Soprano (2010) and Victims of Duty (2008), is as comedic as it is heartbreaking. Mention of the 1950s is likely to inspire images of housewives rolling out pie dough, sock hops, white picket fences, and teenagers sitting in malt shops. However, we often forget that the '50s weren't all about Doris Day and "Leave It to Beaver". It was also the era of rock'n'roll music and the Beat Generation. This is the reality that the characters of William Inge'sPicnic inhabit. They may have a fenced-in yard, but it's wildly unkempt. Teenagers may drive off to the malt shop, but they're doing a lot more driving than they're telling their parents about.

The hilariously charming hit musical Forever Plaid will take you on a trip to the fifties with Sparky, Jinx, Smudge and Frankie, a fictional 1950's boy band. The group was tragically, and inconveniently struck down before their first big gig. 'The Plaids' will be brought back to earth to take the stage one last time. Forever Plaid will run from January 8th to February 6th.

The theatre, which opened on December 20, 1912 with a Peg O'My Heart starring Laurette Taylor, is currently home to the Broadway Premiere of Grace, which will end its limited engagement on January 6, 2013. It will next be home to the World Premiere production of Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's, a new play written by Richard Greenberg, which starts performances on Monday, March 4 and opens on Wednesday, March 20.
