TACT/The Actors Company Theatre, the critically-acclaimed company 'dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit,' currently celebrating its 20th Anniversary Season, will present the rarely seen 1926 crime drama Broadway, by Philip Dunning and George Abbott in a one-night only benefit concert performance at the Scholastic Auditorium (557 Broadway, NYC).

Prolific actor, playwright and screenwriter Charles Busch is set to star in The Peccadillo Theater Company's upcoming staged reading of Sidney Howard's 1926 play THE SILVER CORD Monday, January 14 at 7 PM at Theatre at St. Clement's, 423 West 46 Street (between Ninth & Tenth Ave.) Under the direction of OBIE Award winner Dan Wackerman, the cast will also feature Jessie Austrian (Cymbeline), Molly Camp (The Heiress), Robert Eli (Saturn Returns), and Wesley Taylor ('Smash,' Rock of Ages).

Today in 1946, the second Broadway revival of Showboat opened at the Ziegfeld Theatre, and ran for 418 performances. Show Boat is a musical in two acts with music by Jerome Kern and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. It was originally produced in New York in 1927 and in London in 1928, and was based on the 1926 novel of the same name by Edna Ferber. The plot chronicles the lives of those living and working on the Cotton Blossom, a Mississippi River show boat, from 1880 to 1927. The show's dominant themes include racial prejudice and tragic, enduring love.

Peter Marshall to Play the Metropolitan Room in January

Peter Marshall, the five-time Emmy Award-winning host of The Hollywood Squares, who interrupted a career on Broadway to heed the call of Hollywood, returns to his showbusiness roots in a six-show major engagement at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, in January. The January 11 to 14 run marks the entertainer's first club dates in New York since he appeared with his comedy-variety partner Tommy Noonan in the late 1950's.

Restored FUNNY GIRL to Open TCM Film Festival, 4/25

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will open the 2013 edition of the TCM Classic Film Festival with the world premiere of a brand new restoration of the musical classic Funny Girl (1968). TCM's own Robert Osborne, who serves as official host for the festival, will introduce Funny Girl to kick off the four-day, star-studded event taking place Thursday, April 25 - Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Hollywood. In addition to Funny Girl, the TCM Classic Film Festival will feature world premiere restorations of The General (1926), Giant (1956) and The Great Escape (1962), with many additional titles to be announced later.

University of Cincinnati CCM Kicks Off Yearlong Kurt Weill Festival, Oct 19

Today in 1966, Annie Get Your Gun opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it ran for 77 performances.Annie Get Your Gun is a musical with lyrics and music written by Irving Berlin and a book by Herbert Fields and his sister Dorothy Fields. The story is a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley (1860-1926), who was a sharpshooter from Ohio, and her husband, Frank Butler. Songs that became hits include 'There's No Business Like Show Business', 'Doin' What Comes Natur'lly', 'You Can't Get a Man with a Gun', 'They Say It's Wonderful', and 'Anything You Can Do.'

Al Hirschfeld Exhibition to Be Featured at Sheldon Art Galleries

The Sheldon Art Galleries in St. Louis announces a major retrospective exhibition of the work of St. Louis-born artist Al Hirschfeld to open on Friday, September 7, 2012 as part of The Sheldon's 100th anniversary celebration. Accompanying program:?In Conversation: David Leopold and Louise Hirschfeld, Saturday, September 8, 10:30 a.m., admission free. David Leopold, Archivist, Al Hirschfeld Foundation, and curator of the exhibition Al Hirschfeld's Jazz and Broadway Scrapbook will share stories and with Al Hirschfeld's wife and historian Louise Hirschfeld, illuminating the life and career of the illustrious artist. The exhibition is made possible by Mary Strauss and Terry Schnuck.

Peters, who was on-site to receive this honor, participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the custom decal featuring her and Moore's likenesses on the front of one of Gray Line New York's iconic double-decker buses. A ribbon-cutting ceremony where a custom decal will be unveiled on the front of the vehicle displaying their likenesses, also incorporating a special edition poster designed by the legendary Bob Mackie, for this year's 14th annual Broadway Barks, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event, which the two actresses recently co-hosted. Ms. Peters will be on hand for the unveiling today, August 21st, 12 noon on PIer 78 at 455 12th Avenue at 38th Street.
