MERRIE ENGLAND Opens Tonight at Finborough Theatre, London, May 27

The Summer Season at the Finborough Theatre continues with rediscoveries of EVENTS WHILE GUARDING THE BOFORS GUN and MERRIE ENGLAND. Commemorating the tenth anniversary of the death of playwright John McGrath, and unseen in a professional production in London since 1966, John McGrath's Events While Guarding The Bofors Gun opens at the multi-award-winning Finborough Theatre for a limited four-week season from Tuesday, 22 May 2012 directed by Robert Hastie. Merrie England plays at the Finborough Theatre for a limited run of nine Sunday and Monday evening performances and Tuesday matinees, opening tonight, 27 May 2012.

To celebrate the 150th birthday of modern-dance pioneer Loie Fuller (1862-1928), Jody Sperling/Time Lapse Dance, in association with The Joyce Theater Foundation, presents a season honoring her legacy at Joyce SoHo. Artistic Director Jody Sperling - who has earned an international reputation as the leading contemporary interpreter of Fuller's genre - offers a range of tribute works varying in approach from reverential to experimental.

In his second consecutive week with the New York Philharmonic this season, Sir Colin Davis will lead the Orchestra in two works by Elgar - the Introduction and Allegro, and the Violin Concerto, with Nikolaj Znaider as soloist - and Mozart's Symphony No. 36, Linz, Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, December 10, at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, December 11, at 8:00 p.m.

The Threepenny Opera ran at the Arden Theatre Company from September 30-November 7. Threepenny features a book by Bertol Brecht and music by Krut Weill - you've probably heard 'Mack the Knife' as it became a popular standard for crooners. Though the show is certainly a predecessor of the musical theater genre we know today, it is more a play with a variety of musical numbers.

Music Society brings one of cinema's supreme achievements to the Main Auditorium of Midland Center for the Arts, 1801 W. St. Andrews Rd., Midland, MI, on Saturday, March 21 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 22 at 3 p.m. 'Voices of Light: The Passion of Joan of Arc' is a complete experience: emotional, intellectual and spiritual. Danish filmmaker Carl Theodore Dreyer's eccentric 1928 silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc has been declared one of the top ten black-and-white films ever created.
