The San Francisco Symphony and Michael Tilson Thomas will present new episodes of their acclaimed Keeping Score television series on New York's WNET/THIRTEEN on Saturday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 2 at 2:00 p.m. In a year marking the centenary of both the death of Gustav Mahler and the birth of the San Francisco Symphony, the Orchestra's Keeping Score project focuses on the enigmatic composer with two one-hour documentary-style episodes, two live-performance programs (full details follow), new Mahler-related content at http://www.keepingscore.org and a 13-part national radio series. The Keeping Score project is a natural outgrowth of the San Francisco Symphony's almost century-long commitment to make classical music more accessible and meaningful to people of all ages and musical backgrounds.

'The Butterfly Conservatory: Tropical Butterflies Alive in Winter,' an annual favorite visited by millions of children and adults, returns to the American Museum of Natural History on October 16. Celebrating its thirteenth year at the Museum, this highly popular winter attraction transforms the iciest day into a summer escape, inviting visitors to mingle with up to 500 fluttering, iridescent butterflies among blooming tropical flowers and lush green vegetation in 80-degree temperatures. The Butterfly Conservatory is on view through May 30, 2011.
'The 2011 Billboard Music Awards' show aired live Sunday, May 22nd (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Sea Rex: Journey to a Prehistoric World, a stunning IMAX film, opens at the American Museum of Natural History on Monday, January 10, 2011. This 41-minute film sheds light on the extraordinary prehistoric underwater world and its larger-than-life creatures, which, with their daunting size and natural ability for predation, were ruling the seas 20 million years before dinosaurs roamed the earth.
Moviegoers will meet Julie, an imaginative young woman, as she travels from a modern-day aquarium to the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods. Viewers will explore an amazing underwater universe inhabited by, among other animals, the powerful Liopleurodon, the long-necked Elasmosaurus, Ophthalmosaurus or 'eye lizard,' the ferocious Prognathodon, and the gigantic 75-foot Shonisaurus. The film was shot in studio and on location at various museums in Paris and London, as well as in Egypt and New Zealand to capture the aerial, landscape, and underwater scenes.
Sea Rex: Journey to a Prehistoric World was written and directed by Pascal Vuong and Ronan Chapalain and produced by Catherine and Pascal Vuong and Francois Mantello. The film features an original score by Franck Marchal and a screenplay by Pascal Vuong, Rick Dowlearn, and Ronan Chapalain.
